Machine is actually the Hoover AL 120 - a front-loader like the 130. Have run two 95-deg washes without clothes through (2nd with som edettol) bu tsmell persists. Suspect it's bacteria. Shuld I use bleach? With hot water? How?
I ended up running vinegar through and bleach and soda crystals (all SEPARATELY, note - God knows what would happen if you put them all in together & heated them to 95deg!!). It took a few goes but worked. The key thing, if you don't use v hot washes frequently is to run a service wash once a month (just soap powder at 90+ deg, no actual laundry). If there is a smell you will have to use one or more of the above remedies. An important tip (to avoid bacteria build-up) - keep the door open when not in use. (If you have small pets, this will mean checking inside before bunging a load of laundry in & shutting the door!)

Re: smell from tub
Does it the first time you have this bad smell and for how long do you use this machine in its cuurent location ?
Try to run an empty machine cycle with a quart of vinegar to clean the tub and pump.
Let me know if it solve your problem ?
Good luck !

smelly front loader???all front loader tend to leave a little water left over in the inner tub after every load, always leave washer door a crack open to reduce smell/mold on seal,to get rid of smell simply run a normal cycle,no clothes, with a dose of bleach or better yet AFFRESH,made by whirlpool,a bleach tablet with fragerance, sanitze and smells good!!answer,,,AFFRESH
The
moldy odor in this front loading washer (and most other front loaders, too) and the clothes washed in ti is due to the
way the washer are built. There's almost always some water that doesn't get pumped out all the way. The water along with detergent residue left inside the machine is the perfect combination for mold growth between wash days.
First stop feeding mold. Stop using "regular" detergent in it. By regular, I mean anything that isn't an "HE" type. You've got to use the types
designated as "HE" (High Efficiency). They suds up a lot less, and due
to the significantly less water our front loaders use, actually leave
less soap residue (that is a large source of the mold and musty smell)
behind the tub of front loading machines. I use only about 1/2 of the HE
detergent recommended on the bottle and get very good results.
Second, kill off existing mold. Run a clothes-less wash consisting of bleach and HOT water only 1 X
week. This should be the last load run whenever the machine will be idle for a couple days or more.
Third, always wipe dry the
inside of the tub, detergent & softener dispensing areas, the gasket
around the door - particularly the bottom. Again, this is best after
the last load is complete.
Fourth, leave all doors open or slightly
ajar to allow for air circulation.
Some products that are designed to rid odors from your washer.
Finally, to remove the existing mold
smell from the machine, one or two initial treatments (followed by
regular treatments) of a product called "Affresh" (or equal) as
directed. Some people have good luck with vinegar, too.
I hope this helps and good luck! Please rate my reply - thank you.

Hope your filter is clean. Don’t wait for the machine to jam to
look into your filter.
You can use Affresh to clean your front loader. Deposits of soap and other such
things can be stuck around the inside tub of your washer. Try this product, it
works great on all front loaders. Use very hot water with the Affresh pellet
with no clothes and run the machine through a cycle. Also helps with any
stagnant water smells. Put the Affresh
pellet inside the machine, not in the soap dispenser.

If it is a front loader, scrub the rubber door gasket with a mild bleach solution and a Magic Eraser pad. Always leave the washer door open to prevent mildew. This is a real serious problem, and is being addressed by class Action Lawsuits.
Hello,Not sure I can solve this but according to repair services ,HC or HE washers especially front loaders need to have the tub cleaned once a month ( at least) with bleach or a product that can be purchased at Lowes or any other appliance store. Your problem according to those I have spoken with is Mold in the system. We have bleached ours and used two of these pellets and still are having a problem. I was told that since it is the first time in a year of having this machine that it will take some more cleanings. Hope this helps. By the way we have a Frigidaire front loader.
