I have nu L921G 19" LCD monitor and it's now 17 months old and it's already out of warranty. My LCD monitor became bluish screen yesterday but the windows runs normally and the programs as well. I've tried to pressed the auto configuration button but nothing happened. I've also tried to check the VGA cable but it stays the same. I changed the VGA cable with a new one but it didn't fix the problem. I also tried to connect the LCD monitor to other CPU but same thing happens(bluish screen). Please help me to resolve my problem. Please please please....

Before spending money on a new video card you might not need. Check all your connections. I have a monitor built into a Radio station announcer's desk and it goes blue at switch on. All I did was reposition the input cable and problem solved. It was caused by a fractured wire or two in the output cable and moving it made them make contact again. It's worked for 4 years now, if it really dies then I'll have to pull it out and replace the whole cable. Check that all your inputs and outputs are firmly plugged in and any securing screws are finger tight. But remember the old tech's saying "If it's gonna go wrong it'll usually be in the first few weeks" BMW

Why does the screen shut down after 1 sec while sound continues

It sounds like bad luck to me. You cannot change any settings on a TV by connecting a computer to it. In theory you can damage any monitor by setting the screen resolution of the computer higher than the monitors maximum res. The Sharp 26" has a resolution of 1366 x 768 (1080i) so (again in theory and I have never seen it happen) if you set the output to 1920 x 1024 (HD - 1080p) it can kill the screen. Perhaps this is what has happened. You will need to take it to a Sharp service centre.

maybe you have a virus or infection. Maybe you have low RAM Memory. Maybe the hard drive needs to be defragged.

You should just boot from the disk you have and that will walk you thru the install process. Put the Disk in the cd drive. Turn the computer off, then turn it back on and notice the screen for which key it says to hit to Change the Boot Order or Boot Sequence. Hit that key and let it boot from the CD start the recovery.

There is a long silver button with a black moon on the upper left of my keyboard. When I accidentally hit it, the screen goes black. What is it.....and how do you get your screen back?

Depending on how your keyboard is configured, that key is set to do one of two things:
  1. Puts your computer to sleep. (A low power state where almost everything is shut off, including the monitor). You can resume from sleep by hitting any key on the keyboard, hitting the power button on your computer, or clicking the mouse.
  2. Puts your computer into hibernation. (An even lower power state where everything is actually shut off, but a copy of everything open is saved to the hard drive to be opened during start up. It basically allows you to turn off the computer, but be able to turn it back on with program exactly how you left it). You can resume from hibernation only by hitting the power button on your computer.
Hope this helps. If it does, please accept and rate the solution! You can leave a testimonial or contact me with any more questions you may have. Thanks for using FixYa!

HP vs 17 screen went off center

push the auto set button on the monitors.
it has reset too. stated in the manual.
does it fail on PC #2 is no then the PC you failed on is bad.
NO PC stated
no OS stated is this XP
or the monitor is bad, as all are this old they die.
the 2nd PC test solves this in seconds work.
even an older Laptop has VGA on the rear, that can be used to do this.

My monitor, some how got stuck in an odd position, and now it won't move back to its original position.

Hit menu button on the screen located three buttons left of the power button. Select Auto Adjust. The display will automatically adjust the screen to the centre. If your display is like mine, you may have to repeat these steps several, several times to correct the problem.

Can't Connect To The Internet

Some routers such as Netgear have a reset button which can set the router back to it original configuration.
To reset Netgear routers remove the power connector from the router, use a sharp point and press the reset button, hold this button and insert the power connector, wait a few seconds and withdraw the sharp point from the reset button.
You can now configure your router to suit your ISP Internet connection.
