Just purchased this mp3 player and started to loaded & listening songs on to it. After turning off for a couple of hours and trying to load more music the screen does not turn on and the only thing lit up is the blue wheel. Now I can't do anything with it. It won't turn on or off no matter what I try. What could the problem be?
"hold the power button for a while and it turns off, just turn it back on and it should work.."
This worked for me! I've had my Sansa 8 gig for six months since Christmas and it had never went blank before tonight. I was in a panic. Thank You for your help.

The same thing happened to me lots of times and all i do is hold the power button for a while and it turns off, just turn it back on and it should work..ps u have to hold the button for a long time until the blue light in the wheel turns off.
The same thing happened to my Mp3 and all i did was let the battery run out all night and in the morning it worked again. Hopefully this will help you so you dont have to return it after you bought it! Enjoy
I just encountered the exact same problem with my mp3 player. It is the 2nd time that this has happened to me. I have taken it back to the store both times and they have given me a new one. They keep telling me that illegally downloaded music will cause it to crash but i only had CDs on there. I guess i dont have a real solution other than taking it back and hoping for one that works.

or formatting it and starting over, see if that helps
easy way to format
1.Shutdown player 2.Hold Rec button 3.Turn player on 4.Plug your player into the PC 5.Go to My computer 6.Find a Icon named 16Mb Format 7.Open that and make a new text file 8.Name it sansa.fmt 9.unplug player and it will say Formatting..... 10.when its finished it will reset , or shut off, when its done turn it on and see if that helps
u have to wait till the screen will be black. I had the same problem with my sansa. it can lasts 1 or 2 days. after screen is black and then do following:
2. change lock switch to orange position
3. Press and hold rec button (at left side)
4. while pressing the rec button, turn the player on
5. it will appear the boot menu. connect the USB cable and try to continue the firmware
6. if it doesn't work, do a firmware downgrade. download this file:
7. execute the application while in boot mode
Try calling the costomer survice line. Then catalog all of the things you were doing while you were listening to the mp3. Did you drop it in water? Was it out in extream cold or heat?? Has it been on for more than 5 hours at a time. Sometimes your system will over heat if you have it on to long. I hope I helped, im not an expert, but still I own one of these, so i have some experience
