Question about Whirlpool AWM5145/2 Front Load Washer
I have a whirlpool washing machine which has a horrible high pitched squeak upon spinning, however it only happens when it is in mid level spin not fast spin or slow spin! the motor and belt are both fine, please help!!!!
Hi, I wanted to comment on this because I have the Majestic MJ9200 Washing machine front load for the RV. I am having the exact same problem and I cannot use my machine at this time. This is NOT an unbalanced load problem. An unbalanced load will cause a loud banging noise because the drum is off balance. There is something wrong inside your machine. Mine never had this problem before either and an unbalanced load does not cause this horrible screech while on the spin cycle. My machine like yours made the noise only on certain spin speeds, high 1500 rpm spin the first time and when I adjusted the spin cycle just to see what happened it stopped making that horrible noise. I washed another load and it began that same screetch while spinning and it was then in all RPM ratios available on my model.
My husband took the top off the machine and could not see anything evident but when looking into the front of the machine we could tell that is seems the interior drum is much looser in the washing machine than in the dryer. There are two drums on the front load. A larger outer drum and a smaller inner drum. The inner drum is what is looser in our machine and the noise is a very loud screetch while spinning the water out of the clothes.
Is your machine under any kind of warranty? Mine is not and I am waiting to get it fixed.
Good luck on getting yours fixed and perhaps we can both help each other out on this one although we have different brands of machines...

It could be just a dry belt and pulley. You could use the old squeeking car fan belt trick and rub soap on the belt. The noise is gone in a flash. You can even buy sticks of anti squeek from automobile outlets. BMW

I think THIS small unnoticed answer is the correct one for the OP's question. Yes there may be a pump problem but you would hear that every time the machine pumps out, not just on spin. Also belt squeaking would occur on agitation as well as spin. I think it is friction pads on the suspension slipping and squeaking - replace or carefully sand them if present on this model.

Also check the shocks and springs around the tube assy Ive seen broken springs cause this fault

It sound like an unbalanced load of clothes issue. Stop the machine, redistribute the clothes and re-start the machine. Good luck !

To coffeediva22, I have a MJ9200 in my motorhome and about ready to trash it. I've had many problems, but my biggest problem is finding parts. Where did you get the part that you needed to fix yours. I need a new water pump. Mike

I had this problem with my machine three or four years ago. I sprayed the belt with WD 40. It stopped the squeak and the machine has worked fine, except it has begun squeaking again, so I will spray it again.

Make sure that the Machine is Balanced. We had this problem with our Bosch WFMC 3200

I fixed my issue. Mine was a very small finish nail that had been sucked into the water pump. When I took the pump off the motor, the nail fell out. I made sure the pump was still turning ok and not damaged, then reassembled it all and it's worked fine...and quite...ever since. Mel

make sure u are not under loading the washer with just one or two items and that the load is fairly balanced or else the machine will not go into high speed spin as to not go completely off balance and walk across your floor if that doesnt fix it you might need a new ccu or motor control board probably the second one and make sure u are using HE detergent and not too much because suds will lock the pump up which will not spin with water in the unit
