My DVD player has started to distort the sound. I've tried several discs both old and brand new. It's not a disc problem. It muffles the sound and acts almost as if it's on a slower speed. The picture is fine, just the sound is distorted. The odd thing is that it was sudden. One night it was doing just fine and the next, using the same DVD that was left in the player, it started to distort the sound.
Do you run your volume flat out? If you do then perhaps you've damaged the cones in your speakers. Some of these 5.1 speaker systems are utter rubbish. They look nice but the speakers are often garbage. Also running speakers at high volume for lengthy periods can overheat the coils and distort the cones.

Have you tryed a differant audio input on another set or on that same set. Are the audio cables good?? If all this is ok then the D/A converter inside the unit is defective and most likely it wont pay to repai sorry
