Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W1 Digital Camera
You don't need a driver.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

SOURCE: Windows 98 Driver required for sony cyber-shot dsc-w35
Windows 98 is not officially supported by Sony for the DSC-W35. You can find hacked versions on the web but they may not be stable. You can find a list of supported Operating Systems here at the Sony website. http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=DSCW35&LOC=3
I would suggest trying to use the Windows ME drivers. Windows ME was based on Windows 98 so the drivers for most applications are virtually identical. I have used 8 different drivers from other vendors in situations like this and it worked out fine. However, please be aware that since it is not officially supported it can cause interoperability options with your Windows 98 system.
This is the best suggestion I have. By no means should you get Windows ME, it was one of the worst versions of Windows released. Lots of bugs and there are less drivers for this operating system than your Windows 98.

SOURCE: sony ccyber dsc-w1 battey goes dead very quickly
Your battery life is finished thats why after showing the full charging its dead faster. Buy new rechargable battery , charged it fully and use it. You naver face the problem again.
Thanks.

SOURCE: Just upgraded to windows 7 and there is no sony driver.
It is so simple. Forget Microsoft and connect to a Mac. Everything is then automatic - no problems. I ask my wife to download my photos to her Mac and then send them to me.
Makes Microsoft look pretty stupid, I think !
