Client reports that the sound is working (I can;t hear it without knowing channel and input). Does that mean T-con? One person reported that it was a display fault instead. Tnx, jt :)

  • jonathan thayer Oct 11, 2011

Gotta get this thing out of here. Grey plaid pattern, sound functioning. T-con or display fault? One respondent said Samsung told him it was the display itself. How to tell which is the question. Can you suggest a diagnostic algorhithm? Have you seen the fault before. Sincerely and thanks,

I see that this is an LCD tv. Source of the problem seems to be the T-Con or the main A/V board. While you have this plaid pattern, is sound ok or is it affected too? If possible can you please take a picture of the screen and upload it to imageshack.us , copy the link to the image and post it here so that I can have a look?

Regards,
Sai.

If you have no sound either, then its a confirmed case of faulty main A/V board. Faulty T-con AKA LCD controller effects only video. Replacing the mainboard should resolve your problem. Let me know if you wish to do it yourself.

Thats easy. You can get it from the link below. I hope you got the part number off the board though as I found four different A/V boards for your set.

I am looking for solution for vertical and horizontal lines on the tft screens

Usually bad screens don't have "patterns", they get dead or discolored Pixels but not in distinct patterns. I would think this is more likely to be a failing graphics chip. try this, If you can plug in an external monitor do you still see the Plaid Pattern? If not, then it probably is the screen itself. If it is still there on the monitor then it is the graphics chip. hope this will help you diagnose the problem!

Samsung LNT4071 no picture after half hour of used

If you get just grey glowing screen (look at it in darkened room), then it can be the T-CON is not getting the 12v from logic board or the logic board is not sending the 4 pairs of the the LVDS (Low-Voltage differential Signal) to the T-CON board, you will need the scope to look at the LVDS. You can try coolin ght T-CON board with freeze spray used for electronics troubleshooting to see if the pictures will come back.

If you are going to DIY and have proper tools, electronics knowledge, and know safety precaution then please read on:

Green Plaid lines on Samsung HLR5067wax/xaa-

These are the Tests that should be run to determine which board is bad.You should call a good TV Tech if you are not familiar with this TV.
- The DDP1011 on the DMD board has a feature to display internal test patterns.
- DNle, which is an end port in the digital board, has a feature to display internal test patterns.
- The analog board sends signals to ADV7402 on the digital board.
- The analog board is the first output and the digital board is the second one, followed by DMD, which is the final one.
■ Diagnosis By Module
1. Access Service Mode
(In Standby mode, press "Mute", "1", "8", "2" and "Power" to turn the screen on and enter service mode)
2. Check if there is an error in the DMD board
DDP1011 → TEST PATTERN → Press the right arrow key:
Options of FULL WHITE, BLACK, RED, GREEN and BLUE PATTERN are displayed on the screen.
If "Pattern" does not appear, this is a DMD board error.
3. Check if there is an error in the digital board before the DMD.
When the DMD board has been determined to be error free based on the test patterns:
FACTORY MODE → DNIe → TEST PATTERN normal display: no error in the digital board.
If "Pattern" does not appear, it may be from a DMD board or ATI error or there is an analog board malfunction.
4. Check if there is an error in the analog board.
Check for a power signal from the analog to the digital boards

Can't turn on or off Samsung LNT4071F even though power is on

You probably have a bad main bd. The next bd to go bad will be the T-Con bd. Have a trained Samsung tech troubleshoot the set.

Grey vertical line appears on screen

I had the same problem with my Lnt4071f. I called tech support and they said it was a faulty panel and the entire set had to be replaced. If you have your warrantly still use it, if not you may just be able to replace the panel, but its expensive.

Picture ripples

The following describes the symptoms, cause and prevention of the Moire effect. Symptoms of the Moire effect When you are shooting a subject that has a fine regular pattern such as stripes or plaids, a ripple that does not exist on the subject sometimes appears in the image. An example of this can be seen in the pictures below. The photo on the left shows the fine plaids pattern on the shirt. The photo on the right is a distance shot of the same shirt. In this photo, you can see a ripple that is not visible in the photo on the left. This effect is called the Moire effect. Why does the Moire effect occur? Digital cameras and camcorders are equipped with imaging devices such as CCD sensors and CMOS sensors that have pixels that are finely aligned horizontally and vertically that convert light into electronic signals. When the pixels and the fine pattern on the subject overlap slightly misaligned, an interference pattern occurs and a ripple that does not exist on the actual subject may appear. This is the Moire effect. Look at the image above. This image shows red stripes and black plaids overlapped slightly misaligned. When you look at the entire image, you find a ripple that differs from either of the patterns. This is the same principle that causes the Moire effect. Preventing the Moire effect You can reduce this effect by changing the distance, zoom setting or the angle of the image. If you are using a camera with manual focusing, the Moire effect can be reduced by simply changing the focus slightly.
