What does Invalid Format mean?

It means you are trying to produce a picture that is the wrong size/resolution or 'format'.

I have a bunker hill item 62463 dvr security system and all i get on my T.V is invalid Format it will do nothing else

You need to use the TV remote, and change the input to video, or DVR ...or something. Run through the various input channels, and you will find it. Invalid format is like if my TV is set to RGB/PC input, but the screen has timed out and is in sleep mode (no display) ...it puts invalid format on the screen. Or if you go to straight TV instead the channel that's connected to the box, same thing. You have to have the right input selected. You usually need the remote for it.

Cannot access TV. Screen shows HDMI 1. Invalid format.

Is it possible that whatever you have plugged into HDMI 1 requires a firmware update ? for example a dvd player etc

Or perhaps the tv cannot handle the resolution if this is the case you will want to set it at what the computer manual states what it can handle with HDMI

If not perhaps Unplug the tv for a few minutes, and then let it boot back up and trying your hdmi inputs again. This should reset the microprocessor.

Best of luck :)

When I hook up DVD player to 32inch LG television there is no color on the TV it plays in black and white. Why?

first check color level setting on the tv when on av source input. double check input you are using, yellow video input (not green)
then try another device in that same input, then try the DVD player on another tv. The problem will be either DVD player or incompatibility or bad main board in TV, but usually a DVD or compatibility problem(cheap DVD player)

I have a z50p3 I tried to hook a samsung 1600

Sorry, man I have the same problem, with the same tv and player. Did you ever get a solution? LG Service Tech came out and his LG bluray player worked, whereas my Samsung didn't hooked to the TV. (It would spordically work going thru my HK254 AVR.)

He said either 1) the Samsung player was defaulting to a format that the Zenith being 3 years old could not decode (eg. 1080P) or that I might need to change inputs several times to get it to sync up or 3) by an LG Bluray player.

He said the Zenith was old and that newer sets are built with circuitry to help navigate the handshake easier. He couldn't find any service bulletins on it, and the one I got from LG he said didn't exist.

Invalid format

Try rechecking all wire connections for proper placement and fit too and from the tv.
Try adjusting the video format on the DVD, flip through 480p and 1080i. See which format works best with your tv. Do the same with Wii.

See if this helps.

DVD does not work with TV - invalid format error

Make sure that there are no discs in the player.

1. Turn it on
2. Press "Setup" on the remote
3. Press the down button twice on the remote
4. Press the right button once on the remote
5. Press the up button once on the remote
6. Press "Ok" on the remote

You should now be back into interlace mode.

Change from PAL to NTSC

To begin, the first and second problems are completely unrelated.

If you bought a PAL TV and are playing an NTSC source, the result will be an invalid format. The two sources are not compatible. However, there are converters available, see: http://www.converters.tv/signals/ntsc_to_pal.html (just as an example).

To the second user. My first guess is that you need to select the proper input on your TV. Look for the "input" button on your TV remote and toggle through each input until you see a picture. The problem may be more complicated than that, but, to troubleshoot, I need to know: what TV you have, how many devices and what devices are hooked to the TV.

Zenith Z42P3 "Invalid Format" message from upconverter DVD

Ran into the same problem with this DVD player and my LG tv. Try this:
Open the DVD tray, with the DVD tray open press the HDMI select button until the proper resolution for your tv is illuminated, put the DVD back in, close the tray and try again. Simple fix -- worked beautifully for me.

Good luck
