You have to format your mp3 player, this is the only way that this can be resolved.
The device manager should have come on a cd, u simply use this and restore factory settings, it is annoying yes, but unfortunately it is the only way for you to have ur mp3 player back

It could be a hardware issue requiring replacement, but here are the things you can try to narrow it down: 1. Make sure the hold/lock is not engaged 2. Reset the player 3. Run an Updated using the latest version of the Philips Device Manager from Philips website 4. Run a Repair in Philips Device Manager If these methods fail, call Philips to see if you are still in-warranty. -Tha Mp3 Doctor
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
THEN, do the "Repair" in the Philips Device Manager
When things freeze up like this, usually a Firmware reload is the thing to attempt.
You should have a disc with the player - follow the instructions carefully.
