Question about Philips 55PP9363 55" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
Up until a few days ago the screen was gorgeous. Now we see green lines especially, but can also see red and blue when there is print on the screen. The actual model number is 55PP93 5217 Chasis number is DPTV310
Your TV most likely has one of two possible problems.
Problem #1: Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )
Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem
Red, bule, green lines do not line up together. - 77ea520.jpgdata-src="/uploads/imagRed, bule, green lines do not line up together. - f0900cb.jpgjpg" alt="77ea520.jpg" class="h_mi" />
Here is a quick test....
Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.
Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.
You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.
If you can't move them in alRed, bule, green lines do not line up together. - 2c07611.pngs your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem. Solution #1
You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.
Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy
Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Solution #2
What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.

Your gonna have to trouble shoot the convergence PC board. if you know solid state electronics you can buy the service manual at sams photo facts and Then go from there. most of the time its a couple of LSIC's Sometimes its also a problem with cold solder connections on said IC's on the convergence PCB. If your not a tech but a handy man I would advise you to get a tech to troublke shoot this problem as if you pull the wrong plug or touch the wrong thing ,Not only can you cause serious problems to your investment ,you could also seriously be killed!! Call A pro Please. Good Luck

This is a common problem with rear projections especially this model. Most of the time this happens when you recently moved the tv or had a hard bump on it. The non-tech fix which I advise you to try first is to go into your tv's menu and go under the picture settings and go to manual convergence. From there you can go to the separate colors and manually adjust them with your remote. All you have to do it go to each little cross-hair and move them until you don't see two definitive lines anymore. Once you have all of them lined up again don't forget to save your settings on the menu before exiting. You should notice a difference immediately if they were significantly off. If not then it might be time to call a prof.
