I have an N533 (I think, there are many #'s on the back of the floppy) Mitsumi 1.44 Floppy drive and an WINXP machine (service pack 3). I am running NET framework 1.1. The installation program tries to load NET frame 2.0 but fails. Continuing the installation fails also. Any suggestions? Thanks, Ed D

follow these solutions in the steps I list

1. Reinstall drivers
2. Unplug the floppy drive from the mother board and plug it back in, reboot
3. Try another floppy drive.
4. If all else fails, it may be an issue with the OS.

You have to install the drivers which has come with the external floppy disk!!!

You shouldn't need one. You PC bios should pick up the drive when you turn your PC on.

Look in "My Computer" the floppy should be listed there.

Floppies only hold about 1.44 Mb of data Its worth mentioning that these drives are more or less obsolete now, flash/USB drive hold much more data, more now than CD's (700Mb) and
DVD's (4.7 Gb) and now with SD card usb adaptors almost as much as Blueray disks (25 Gb)

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electic extensions or just replace them they are probably old and faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

Check the BOIS setup. Press on boot and see it the Floppy drive is turned on.
