Picture turns to lines

When the tv is first turned on the picture is fine. After a while the picture turns to different colored lines..the first couple times that it does it slightly tapping the side of the television will fix it however you can only do this a couple times and it won't work any more and you have to power it off for about an hour and turn it on again.

Sounds like an intermittant connection on the convergence IC'S or the vertical sweep curcuit. I would advise that you seek to have this fixed as soon as possible as tapping on the side can and will cause other problems in the set.. I would also advise that if your not an experienced tech take the set in to a repair shop. Good Luck

Seems TV has dry/ cold solder joints (loos connections) in convergence out section.
Please check cold/ dry solder joints in convergence out section in TV, specially on pins of convergence out ICs. resolder these solder joints and all would be fine.

Picture color is distorted.

Try turning off power and let set cool completely. Then turn back on. Letting it cool complety re-arms the autmatic degaussing circuit. It may take several cycles to completly clear it up.

Wide vertical bands of color through the viewing area. The sound is fine

One of your "X" buffer boards is defective. In Panasonic plasma tv's they are located at the bootom of the set and connect directly to the plasma diplay panel via a thin ribbon cable. The board you want to replace will be directly in line with the discolored vertival line in the picture. The part number is on the circuit board and usualy starts with "tnp..." or "txp..."
