I have a Sea 2300 MB which works great but how do you go from the FM band to AM band

Again another radio with illegal mods to go out of freq bands and FM is not authorized here by the FCC in the USA. I won't provide solutions to anyone with these radipo types. You want more bands, freq.s, power? Go Ham..

Read the manual. The radio may have been set to some defaults, although the time was not correct. When you started setting the time, it is possible that you should have run through the whole setup. For example some radios have different ranges for the FM bands: there is a Japanese band that starts at 76 MHZ, and ends at 108 MHz; there is the standard FM band from 88 MHz to 108 MHz; and a school band (I can't remember its range).
For AM the gap between neighboring positions may be set at 9 kHz or 10 kHz depending on the location (region or continent).
I suggest you get the manual and see if there is an initial setup procedure, then follow it.

It's a two way communications radio, not a broadcast radio, hence it won't receive FM/AM broadcast radio stations.

You should not confuse the two as they work on different radio bands, most FM broadcast radios are on the 86-108MHz bands, whereas two way radios operate on the following bands:
1-86MHz, 108-174MHz, 220-520MHz & 865-920MHz

I don't know which band your radio works on, but not broadcast bands I'm sure.

The only exception to this is the smaller hand helds, which may have FM broadcast programmed, but if this is the case with yours, This issue is out of the realm of two way radio queries, as Broadcast radio is not two way radio, but one way radio, and I'm not competent enough to answer Broadcast radio issues.

go to the part store and get an antena it plugs into the system giving you am and fm frequencys

If the FM band is not working, make sure rod antenna is fully extended, wrap wire around the antenna for better gain, if still no result the FM section is defective and is not cost effective to repair.

disconnect the power and open the side where the cd motor is and remove manually

Need help finding parts for a marine radio I bought at a rummage sale, It is a Sea Worthy,Sea9504 AM/FM cd player. Just have the radio,need wiring harness, and a antenna .Don't know what else i need?
