Brother HL-1440: When I sent a document to print, the ptrinter starts, makes a squeaky noise, then shuts down without printing the document. It doesn't even get to the point to when the paper is lifted from the tray.

Printer memory will clear if you simply unplug it from the wall. More likely, the old document was in your computer's disk, and you can control what prints from there.
Try first unplugging power, and removing toner check inside for foreign objects or fragments of paper Open all doors and close them back , and plug back power.
well if it started and got worse over time it could be the drum otherwise it may be the driver that is running the printer also there normaly is a light on the front that will light up red if the drum is shot
Hi,
Try to stop the print spool and restart it. This should clear any jobs that's in your pc. As for the printer ususally if you shut it down for about 30 sec, it should clear the printer memory.
hope this helps.
