Does your laptop meet the basc requirements for this operating system? You can check at
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/hcl/default.mspx Really, go there and check your computer against the listing. If you arent sure after looking, there is a Test you can run ... the test will tell you the answer to your question. If you are still unsure, the HP (compaq) web site has similar features and tests. Go there and get the info you need.
If you are Vista Basic qualified ... Your options are
a) remove some of the unused programs and data (pictures, video, documents) from your drive. Video files are HUGE.
b) upgrade your drive
Formatting your drive will not solve your problem.
If you MUST keep the data files, I suggest you invest in an external USB drive. Store the data files (video, pictures, documents, etc.) on your external drive.
That will fix your trouble.
