No solution, just a workaround. I have used the H2 with firmware 1.90 successfully with Windows 7, but lately the H2 is not recognized anymore. Built-in obsolescence maybe?
Anyway, I just take out the card and put it in a card reader. It is faster also. Card readers are cheap.

Weirdest thing: it works now. What did I do? Not sure, but I changed the batteries, and I let the device warm up, as it had just come from outside where it was quite cool. That is the closest I come to an explanation.

Zoom H2 is compatible with Win10. However, after a while, I got error messages telling me that Win10 could not recognize the device. WTF?
I solved the problem by downloading the latest version (1.9) from Zoom to my main computer (http://ns1.zoom.co.jp/products/h2/software/). The download contains a "system.bin" file. You need to copy that file onto your Zoom H2's SD card.
I took the SD card out of my Zoom H2 and inserted it into a card reader (very cheap device, like $2 or $3 on eBay). I inserted the card reader into an empty USB slot. Windows recognized the card reader, so I simply copied the BIN file from my computer to the card. Then I put the card back into my Zoom H2.
Final step: hold the "play/pause" button at the bottom of your H2 and then turn it on. It will ask if you want to upgrade to Version 1.9. Say yes; wait for it to complete, and then turn off the H2. Then turn it back on and go to USB. Windows will now recognize the Zoom H2.

For me it was not recognized on the USB 3.0 port but it's working well on the USB 2.0 port.

You need to check whether your device is compatible to work with windows 7. if it is ,you need to connect and wait for your system to detect it and search for drivers online.

Zoom H4 Battery Problem

I am having the same problem with my Zoom-H2. I have 2 2650 mah rechargeables, and the draw is such that 20-30 minutes of record &/or playback kills the batteries. Last night I just turned the power on and did nothing. 5 hours later the batteries were dead...

This isn't a solution. It is a reaffirmation that you aren't crazy!

Will not power on from ac or batteries

I happen to know that for this certain camera it uses a battery which if it runs low enough on EN it will actually burn through the S.disc of the E!Reader in the batteries supplementary storage facility. In simple terms, a new battery is required, unless of course you want to spend $600 repairing the battery through an expert which now-a-days is almost impossible to find.

Mac OS 10.4.11 does not recognize the Zoom H4 recorder

Mac OS 10.4 and higher require the Zoom H4 to be upgraded.
Go to  http://www.zoom.co.jp/english/download/software/h4.php#a  and choose the download to version 2.20 that applies to you. The instructions are there, but it is a little tricky. You must download the upgrade to your computer and then transfer it to your Zoom SD card.  To do that you need an SD card reader.  I used my digital camera. I took the SD card out of the zoom and put it in the digital camera. I Plugged the camera into the computer and when the SD card icon appeared on the desktop I dragged the "System Bin" file from the download to the zoom folder.  The rest of their instructions were pretty good.   Good Luck.

Zoom H2 handy recorder

I presume you have tried new batteries, and/or the problem persists with the AC adapter. If so, have you tried replacing the SD card?

If these do not work then it is probably time for a repair, but I'd ask the Zoom Corp or your dealer first. They may have heard of similar problems and know a painless fix.
