I am assuming the player turns on when connected via usb??? Some players can be powered by usb. A few things to look to try and narrow your problem. Does the menu work when connected to your PC? Does the unit indicate that it is taking a charge ie. a battery meter (like cellphones)when plugged in for charging. Can you turn the unit on while it is charging? Some more info will be helpful in determining the problem.

I had my YP-T7J since 2005 and it's only when I started to use Windows Vista that this problem occured. Since I just Synced the player with my media library, I just reformated the player just to delete the recorded audio and then just synced back the music files. Kind of a tedious work but it's worth it. There is no longer support for 2005 Samsung media players.
