I have a Compaq CQ61-411 Notebook the battery went out the computer was working great but a message came up saying replace battery and it cut off and would not charge back up so it took me a few months to get one so I got one today charged battery for 4 hrs went to turn computer on and the screen is black everything else is power up It's getting power, I put a cd in it and it started turning but is not POSTing at all...nothing on the screen and. The CAPS Lock and Num Lock LED lights are blinking. They blink once and then a long pause then once again...it keeps doing this until I turn it off. What could be the problem like I said it was working fine when the battery went out what could have happened Thanks in advance Mike!

HP.com
see your manuals and what the blink codes mean.
each PC has PDF manual that covers that.
blink codes are BIOS warnings.
to tell you what catastrophic failure happend
like low power
bad memory
processor dead
GPU dead.
and more, some have 12 errors possible (newer)

if the BIOS screens are dead, its lost power.
or one of the above.

Motherboard. Your best bet is to purchase another computer. If you can however get the motherboard at a cheap price, then go ahead and change it. I would check ebay first.

SOURCE: I am having HP

open up the on screen keyboard in accessories>>ease of access. and then find all the drivers for your keyboard online. AFTER finding them online, then reinstall them.

if this doesnt work i would back up only my files and do a fresh install of windows.

Please search google for hp keyboard problems because there are MANY of them. recently i just had problems with my hp laptop keyboard.

BTW i sent in my laptop to hp and they just changed the keyboard no questions asked so if all else fails or if you dont want to reinstall windows or the drivers just send it to HP.

SOURCE: HP G61 NOTEBOOK PC BIOS

It would seem that your BIOS has become corrupted somehow. First try entering your BIOS setup. I believe for HP computers when you press power tap the F10 key until it opens. There you can try to reset them in some fashion and save. Try rebooting. If that fails then remove the battery and repeatedly press the power button for about 10 seconds.. (make sure it is also unplugged, this is to discharge the power from the system) then replace the battery and try booting again. Otherwise it would seem that you might have tried to load the wrong BIOS into your laptop. Check with HP then if you are still covered or not. :/

My HP compact nc6000 laptop went to Hiberating mode and i don't know how to fix the problem. If i could please get help that would be great. i just got this laptop yesterday. it was working but all of...

Hi Jessica,

Hibernation mode usually turns the computer off but saves any work. Then you would start it back up by hitting the power button, it will boot up and you log in like normal and the computer should be as it was before it went into hibernation.

If you can't get it out of hibernation by pressing the power button, try holding the power button for 5-10 seconds. The laptop may actually still be on, and holding the power button will cut if off. Once the computer is back on you can change the battery options(hibernation/turn off settings) in Windows by going to the bottom right task bar and right clicking on the battery icon. Normally you will have an option like "power saving settings", "battery settings". In this setting window you can turn off hibernation due to inactivity.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Hp compaq nx7400 - battery died and power cord will not turn comp

Some laptops will not power up with a completely discharged or faulty battery. Remove the battery from the laptop, plug in the power cord and try to boot the system. If the system boots, your battery needs to be replaced. Replace your battery as soon as you can, it's not a good idea to run the laptop for extended periods with an open battery bay.

Hard Drive will not boot in Compaq Presario C700

BIOS checksum errors occurs when either the BIOS chjp is faulty or most likely the BIOS battery is nearly flat and the stored info changes and doesn't match the checksum info.
Replace the battery with a new one, leave the battery out for 1/2 hour before inserting the new battery. The BIOS will be reset to the default settings, you need to configure it again eg, datr and time etc.

Laptop only works with mains power supply connected

When you power your system up do you get a message saying battery charge failure or some other disappointing driver message? Try powering down, removing the battery, and look for a little button on the underneath of the battery. You should be able to press this button and a series of lights will or won't appear. If they light up it means the battery is truly charged. If not there is something wrong with the connection. Try wiping the surface off and replacing the battery. Also make sure the pin that you place into the laptop to charge the battery is free of dust, etc.

Wrong battery detected.

hmmm..interesting....you may need to download the system drivers, usually for bios or other utility programs. the compatibility issue with batteries, is based on the make/model being loaded into the listings from the sysadmin for your operating system.

New battery will not charge

Hi, Well, first, do you have the correct ac adapter? It's possible to have an adapter that will run the system, but not provide enough juice to run the machine AND charge the battery. Did you replace the battery with a brand new one? Thanks
