Disconnect power or unplug the machine. Locate the two spring clips that hold the toppanel to the top of the front panel. Insert a putty knife and push while lifting panel to release the clips as shown below. Do the same to the clip on the other side and lift the panel open. Use care not to scratch the paint on the cover or the front panel. Disconnect the harnesses and slide the panel off the back hinges to remove it.

My Frigidaire Dryer (Model #FASE7073LWO has a error "E64" listed on the window. What error is this in reference too?

E64 means Heater Open Circuit. Either your heater coil is blown or you have some bad wiring to the heater coil.

Dryer not heating

One of two things. The heater coil is burnt out or the controller board is bad. Heater coil is the cheap fix. If it's the controller you best just buy a new dryer. What model is it specifically?

Not getting hot

Hello there and welcome to fixya
There are many things that can cause a no heat symptom in an electric dryer, here is a list of possible causes in order of likelihood or ease of access.
  1. An open fuse/breaker in the house fuse panel. There are 2 fuses or breakers for the dryer, both must be good in order for the dryer to function properly. If one is open, it is possible for the dryer to run but not generate heat. In the case of breakers, try resetting them as sometimes one of the two can open but not physically tip the mechanical lever.
  • An open thermal fuse in the dryer. Some models use a thermal safety limiter or thermal fuse which could open the circuit to the heat element. These are used to prevent a runaway or over heat condition and are often found mounted to the blower or heater element housing (see the links below for examples). These devices are a fairly current development and may not be found on very old dryers.

alertbubble.gif Note: If this is the cause of your current problem (pardon the pun), I strongly suggest you check the vent for obstructions and ensure its length meets the manufacturers recommended limitations, the shorted the better. Failure of this part could be the first indication of a potential fire hazard in the dryer!
  • The element coil is burnt out. Dryer elements are bare wires coiled like springs, when they fail the wire will break opening the circuit. This breakage could be intermittent, only opening as the element expands as it heats. Sometimes the element coil has to be physically checked for breakages, especially where the coil goes through ceramic insulator which could hide a breakage from plain view.
  • Depending on the brand and style, the replacement element may be just the coiled wire that has to be mounted into the original element housing. On other models the element assembly comes already mounted on a frame that then in installed into the element housing or directly into the dryer. Whichever the case, the element coil has to be replaced not just joined together using connectors.
Open switches. These can include the heat selector switch mounted on the console panel, one of the thermostats (from 2 to 5 on some models) mounted in various locations of the internal dryer ducting, the motor switch or the heater contacts of the timer or a 'heater relay' on newer models with an electronic heat control mechanism.

Model pye2300ayw turns on but will not heat . I checked for obstruction and pulled duct off to check but still no heat,

When you pull the duct off and turn the dryer on, do you feel air coming from the back of the dryer?? If you do, that means the blower is working. The most common failure on electric dryers that are no heat is a heater coil or element. These are usually pretty easy to replace. Please make sure before you do any work to the inside of your dryer you unplug it! Before you attempt to diagnose the heater coil, make sure the vent line inside the dryer and at the blower is clear of all debris. This could be the problem. There are instructions on this website to take a dryer apart. There are also instruction to diagnose and replace the heater coil.

My Samsung steam dryer (model DV448AEW/XAA) has stopped heating. Everything else is working fine, Is there a user accessible fuse for the heating element or is there a diagnostic it can run to let me...

This is for the ELECTRIC MODEL Only. I have the DV448AEPl and had the same problem... I cleaned all of the lint from every nook and cranny and ordered a "repair kit" from Sears (http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Samsung-Parts/Dryer-Parts/Model-DV448AEPXAA/1482/0151200?searchedModel=dv448&blt=) there is even a blow up of the parts there - I ordered part numbers , DC47-00015A, thermostat, DC47-00018A - thermostat and DC47-00019A - dryer heater. The heater is relatively easy to get to if your not squeamish about removing some screws and taking the front off the dryer. Once the front is off you can clean even more lint from the dryer. Remove the heater unit by unscrewing the single screw accessed from the front of the dryer and then disconnecting all of the connectors.
Lastly - once I took the heater assembly out I found that a dime had made its way into the heater coil and was shorting it out... Probably could have got by by just removing the dime and cleaning the coil but I figured that since I was elbow deep in the thing I might as well clean it all up and install the new parts.... Cost of parts was about $80.00 w/shipping. Cost of a repairman to knock on my door here is $150 so I came out ahead on this one... Good luck.

My Kenmore Elite dryer is not heating up. Is there a coil that I can change? If so where is the coil located?

Check the heater element and thermal fuses for continuety.
Go to Sears.com and enter you dryer model, then go to parts description, enter heater, and from that you can go to the diagram of where the elemnt is.

My dryer is turning but there is no heat. It is an electric dryer.

The heater coil has burnt out. This coil is located at the bottom of the dryer and is accessed more than likely through the removal of the back panel. The coil can burn out if any lint or foreign substances has gotten on it. The coil looks just like the coils in a toaster. Take the model # and serial # to an appliance parts house for replacement part. Simple to install follow directions and as always insure the dryer is disconnected from the power source before doing any repairs

    Hope this helped you
