My 2 year old Husqvarna riding mower, with the welded steel deck, has the mulch kit installed ( I installed it). When cutting, the mower ususally leaves a thin line of uncut grass. More, when the grass is higher or wetter. The instructions with the mulch kit had specifics, like cut no more than 1 1/2 inches of grass and make sure the grass is dry. Well thats not always possible. Any ideas?

how old is the mower?most new mowers carrey a factorey 1 year warrenty and should be coverd.

I have never seen a catcher for this size of deck, Husqvarna do not offer one, i am sure the deck aperture is different from the 48" machine, if the catcher is available in the US, would they just supply the upper and lower chutes? the 52" deck produces a vast amount of grass, so will fill the boxes very quickly, you would spend more time going back to the dumping area than actually mowing, mulching would be a much better option, if you have to collect would a tow sweeper not be better, it holds more grass, and you would not have issues with poor draught, and grass blocking in the chute ( a big problem with noise compliant machines, and damp grass , and side ejection )

yes, you will have to put a plate off the discharge. Hope this helped Tim

I gave up on mulching blades years ago for this sort of problem, but I think they have improved them since then. And your problem sounds a bit extreme. Are you certain that the blade is not upside down? (They look pretty weird and their correct orientation is not obvious.)

having trouble with mulching unit on 22hp tractor.Mulching kit installed by dealer at time of purchase.What is happening is grass is kicking up on the top of the mowing unit,covering the belts and everything else.I need to do a major cleaning every time I use the tractor.Any one got some solution.

Mulch kits are a waste of money. If you have high lift mulching blades you keep the grass in the deck long enough to do the desired cutting. Open the deflector and block it open with a bungee strap and let the blades spread the grass,so you get no streaking or wind rowing.
CAUTION
Always discharge away from PEOPLE and Buildings and automobiles. I cut an acre here that looks like any golf course with NO MULCHING KIT. MULCHING BLADES ONLY.

i'm wanting to install a mulch kit too but it seems diffecult. hoew do you access under the mowing deck to install everything?

Use a wire feed welder with a low power and feed rate, and weld it small sections at a time.
