When going through the menu screen, I clicked an "off" option to "on." The TV turned off immediately and will not turn back on, but red light (displaying power) is still on. Is there a physical override on the computer, or do we have to do something through the TV?

Im not sure really as I've never had that happen but try to unplug set for awhile and plug back in and see if that corrcts your fault. its a possibility that if it dosent work then the set was breaking down at the same time you were turning an option off in the menu but like I said I dont think theres any option that will turn off the set and not let it start back up again UNLESS wait were you watching mission impossible??? nnnaaaaa Just kidding!! LOL Good Luck and please let us know if you find anything.

Try booting into Safe Mode then go into the Control Panel and change the Power Options.
Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn itback on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFEMODE. Take the Safe Mode option and let it boot up. Safe Mode will lookdifferent to you, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger, this isnormal.Once safe mode is up click Start/Control Panel and look for Power Options.
unless you have such a option in the on screen menus, please go over all of them, then no, althought it should atleast my monitors do goto power safe mode ones theres no signal.
Turn the computer off all of the way by holding in the power button until it shuts off.
Turn it back on and immediately start tapping the F8 key. It should bring you to a menu that has an option for going to "Last Known Good Configuration". Choose that option and see if it boots up.
If pressing F8 doesn't bring you to the menu - you may need to run diagnostics on the computer. To get to the diagnostics, attempt to boot to the Boot Menu by pressing F11 or F12 at the boot screen and see if it gives you the option to run diagnostics.
just spoke to Samsung support and it turns out that the freeview tuner had froze and needed resetting. To do this put TV on standby and then push in series these buttons on the remote: 'info, menu, mute, power' the TV will then turn itself on and display a menu. Press the 'down arrow' untill you've highlighted option 12 - 'reset' and then press the 'right arrow' to enter the option. TV will turn off and when you turn back on it will start in 'plug & play' mode as if new. Set the time and country options and then it will perform a complete scan. I've just retuned mine and all back to normal. Hoorah!!!! :-)
go into your menu and access the closed caption modes. someone has accidently put your tv in the "text" mode. turning off the closed caption feature will correct this.
Bring up TV Main Menu and select option 7 (TV Guide Plus Menu) Select option 1 (TV Guide Plus Setup) Find the MENU, GO BACK and Input button on your remote Press the MENU Button then immediately: Press the GO BACK button then immediately: Press the INPUT button.
Note: It is important to press the Menu, Go Back and Input buttons quickly (within a second of each other)
The FPA (Front Panel Access) lock is on. This allows you to prevent kids from using the set when you are not there and disables the buttons on the front of the TV. The set should turn on with the remote only, and then you can go back into the menu and turn off the FPA, also called child lock.
