Question about Pioneer VSX-D498 Receiver

2 Answers

Pioneer VSX-D498 I have a pioneer VSX-D498. While watching a movie today I noticed that I was not getting any soung from my back speakers. The front of the receiver usually has the Digital, Prologic, program formats, and LFE lights on. It is not doing that anymore. Do you know how I can fix this? I am no longer getting 5.1 sound. Thanks

Use the speaker test functionality on your remote to check all your speakers are in properly. You may also need to hit the surround mode or input mode button to get it working.

Perhaps the unit isn't switched to 5.1 Maybe the movie wasn't recorded in 5.1 or if it was perhaps the recording was faulty. Try a known good recording to check the system. Check your outputs and inputs plus your speaker cables. Check the fuse if there's a seperate one for left and right, which there should be. Try swapping the front speakers to the rear and the rear to the front and see if the fault is still with the rear sound. BMW

I need to open my Pioneer VSX-D498. I have removed the screws at the bottom of the faceplate but I do not want to force it open. Any ideas?

take a look at these videos , i did a bing search for the model of your device. watch some video of people opening it and putting it back together. so you can reverse engineer the problem and fix it without break it.

it will take some time finding the right video but you will be happy that you did.

You have to re route the sound from the samsung to the optical output. You do this is the audio setup section of the setup menu.

Pioneer VSX-D498

Sounds like the on board computer (micro-processor) is waiting for a process to happen and when it does not happen then the unit times out and shuts off. Could be a mechanical or electrical process. Good luck.
