Problem transferring photos to the PC

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com )

Try removing the memory card and plug it into a PC to format it.
  • For desktops you'll usually need to buy a card reader, but most laptops have these built in. Keep in mind that you may still need an adapter to plug it into the card reader itself (usually, micro and mini SD cards need an adapter which converts them into a full-sized SD card).
  • Once you have plugged the card in to your computer, open "My Computer" and right click the drive.
  • Select "Format" and leave the options default, click OK.
  • Your card should be ready to use in your phone.

My camera is saying the memory is full - with every card I put in the camera.

My camera was doing the same thing. I kept trying 4 gb cards, finally read the specs said only 2 gb supported. I put a 2 gb card in the camera and it worked fine.

Is San Disk memory card compatible with Digimax 401 ? I inserted one and got the message card errior.

Hi,
SD Memory Card is compatible with your Digimax 401 camera. You just need to format the card.
Formatting a memory card
** This is used for formatting the memory card. If you run [FORMAT] on the memory card, all
images, including the protected images, will be deleted. Be sure to download important
images to your PC before formatting the memory card.
** If the memory card is not inserted, the internal memory will be formatted.
** Be sure to format the memory card if you are using a newly purchased or non-initialized
memory card, if it contains data that the camera cannot recognize, or if it contains images
captured with a different camera.

Formatting a Memory Card
1. In any mode other than Voice Recording mode, press the MENU button.
2. Press the LEFT/ RIGHT button and select the [SETUP] menu tab.
3. Select the [FORMAT] menu by pressing the UP/ DOWN button and press the RIGHT button.
4. Select a desired sub menu by pressing the UP/ DOWN button and press the OK button.
- If [No] is selected : The memory card will not be formatted.
- If [Yes] is selected : A [PLEASE WAIT!] message appears and the memory card will be formatted. If you ran FORMAT in Play mode, a [NO IMAGE!] message will appear.

Copy to card

Try putting the card on your computer, and open up the file to see if the pictures are still there. Unfortunately, it is quite possible that you formated the card, thus causing the deletion of the pictures. If the pictures are still there on the computer, then copy them to your computer, then delete whatever is left on your card, reformat it on the camera, and then copy the pictures back from the computer to the memory card.
