Monitor resolution I have reset the screen settings, but the icons are still too large, and the red exit button will not show on the screen. The view is warped whenever I open a window. I have changed the DPI settings and adjusted the H and V settings using the menu. Nothing helps. someone else readjusted the screen, forgot what they did, and now wants me to fix the problem.

Sounds like either the trapazoidal is off or the pincushion is set improperly. You should be able to find those settings via the monitors onboard menu. Either one can create such a problem.

You might also check into finding the factory defaults selection. This will reset all of the resolutions and refresh rate settings.

When you adjust your screen follow these steps in order...

Pincushion : Makes the screen look like ( ) or ) (
Trapazoidal : Makes the screen look like / \ or \ /
Horizontal : Basically stretches the screen wider or skinnier to fit the monitor
Vertical : Basically the same as Horizontal, only with the up and down properties
Contrast / Brightness : Use this to find the perfect white and blacks
Color : Finish your setup with adjusting to the perfect color.

This way you can always have your monitor set like you want it.

Sorry my screen is too large to read down, my scroll down is covered

Change the resolution of the monitor/screen. On the desktop, point somewhere where there are no icons. Right click the Mouse button and select Screen Resolution or graphics properties. Click the tab RESOLUTION. If the computer does not show you any higher resolution, the monitor may not be able to display it.

Hello Dean,

It seems your windows resolution settings are set wrong, you simply need to adjust the resolution to match the monitor. To do this, open your start menu, select Control panel. When the control panel is open check the top left corner to see if it is in Classic or Category view, if it says Category, click the switch to classic mode link. If you don't see this in the top left look at the top right and look for Category or Large Icon View, if Category is selected select Large Icon by clicking on Category and then clicking Large Icon View in the list that appears.

Once in the proper view, click on Display and depending which version of windows you have select Settings on the top of the properties window(XP or older) or Adjust Resolution from the left column(Vista/7), now find the slider bar for resolution and slide it to 1280x1024. This will set the number of pixels on the screen.

The default and best resolution for this monitor is 1280x1024, if that makes the fonts/icons too small try 1024x768 next and 800x600 last. If the resolution is set too low to see the Ok and Apply buttons simply set the slider bar then press the enter button the first time, then you will be able to see the Ok and Apply if you need to continue adjusting.

Hope this helps FixYa,

Chris

How do I reset the monitor to correct font size

Hello Lawrie,

You don't actually adjust fonts or resolution on the monitor, you do adjust them in the control panel of the computer.

Once in the proper view, click on Display and depending which version of windows you have select Settings on the top of the properties window(XP or older) or adjust resolution from the left column(Vista/7), now find the slider bar for resolution and slide it higher if you want the font smaller or lower if you want the fonts larger. This will set the number of pixels on the screen.

The default and best resolution for this monitor is 1280x1024, if that makes the fonts too small try 1024x768 next and 800x600 last. If the resolution is set too low to see the Ok and Apply button simply set the slider bar then press the enter button the first time, then you will be able to see the Ok and Apply if you need to continue adjusting.

My monotor its all black but u can

This should be an (LCD) screen. They are the ones that usually have this kind of problem. You will need to take it to have it checked if the problem is the VGA signal cable leading to the monitor. They will check if it is properly connected or has gone bad. It is very unlikely that the screen is bad. When this VGA signal cable goes bad it could result in a totally blank screen.
