my kenmore side by side refuses to operate on the food side. freezer works fine. i unplug it works fine for two days. i dissassembled condenser fins entirely, thawed with blow dryer. restarted. door panel reads normal, but upon 5 minutes condenser fins begin to freeze and form ice at an alarming rate.

My Haier (provided as cheap substitute for real refrigerator by landlord) top freezer ices up within days, encasing latch and door "hinges" (two small pegs fitting into two small holes on frame). Supposedly there is a "pushbutton defroster" feature for the freezer, but I can't find the button or make it work. Real problem is NO GASKET inside freezer door, no insulation along rear of freezer. Unbelievably poor design/construction.

I have a Maytag Model# MSD2758GEW Side by Side Fridge. The coil keeps freezing up. I had the repairman out who replaced several components but insisted the problem was not low freon. The problem was never fixed & now it's not in warranty. Now it only takes 24 hours to freeze up. I have to remove the cover plate and defrost with a hair dryer. What can I do. The fridge is only 3 years old and I paid 1800.00 for it.

Well, the defrosting system is crapped out. Check defrost timer, defrost heater, and defrost thermostat to locate faulty component. Read more about diagnosing defrost system failures.

A fried evaporator fan motor can cause this problem, too. Usually accompanied by a warming-up beer compartment

It sounds like maybe the defrost thermocouple may be bad. Your thermostat does not have a signal to stop cooling.

If the above components are checked, press the door closed switch and take note if the fan is running. also check that if the door is closed that there is correct movement on the door switch to enable fan to run.

How do you make a freezer frost free?

Frost free means that the evaporator coil will not accumulate a thick layer of frost. It will not prevent frost from accumulating on the walls of the freezer. To slow down the amount of frost build up inside the freezer, do not keep the freezer door open for any longer than necessary. The freezer door seal may be defective. This would allow moisture in that would freeze on the inside walls. A heater with timed intervals to come on is one way for a frost free feature. But this will not work for frost build up on the inside walls of the freezer. It would only melt the frost and then it would refreeze again.

Re Amana BRD18vaw bottom freezer - problem is the items in freezer are covered with "frost". How do I know if that's because it might not have been closed tight enough last evening or it's something else

Unfortunatly the only real way to tell is to ensure the door gets shut tightly and keep you eyes open for any signs the freezer is not maintaining temp. Hope this helps

My AEG Arctis freezer is not freezing at the correct temperature and seems to stick on -11 even if I put the fast freeze on.I have turned it off for 24 hours and on again but it still does not hold the...

The freezer is probably in need of defrosting. This usually occurs when the freezer has been over packed. It needs to be able to ahve air flow through it, there are holes in the back of the freezer and a defrosting element at the top and they need to be clear in order to keep it frost free. It happend to me and we called an engineer out. solved it by using hair dryer to defrost it.

Ice maker icing up

Sounds like you may have a couple of problems here. The frost build up could be from a bad door seal. Moist air can be drawn in and collect on the inside. As for the water temp, it sounds like the water line connected to the refrigerator could be tapped off a hot water line. It needs to be connected to a potible cold water line.

Ice built up in the frost free freezer section

It sounds like the freezer fan(evaporator) is wearing out. This problem is very hard to diagnose because the fan spins but no fast enough to circulated the chilled air thru the freezer and refrigerator. The parts and labor are around $300.00
