If the unit will not come on at all, it is probably either the contactor-relay or capacitor, and since I always receommend that you replace it as a set, it doesn't matter which.

AC was running all this summer, then suddenly stopped working. The fan runs on auto and manual but the outside unit does not come on.

The indoor fan is running . but the compressor and outdoor fan does not come on . check fuses there should be a disconnect on the outside by the unit it may have fuses. one could be blown. if the unit has a curcuit board see if any light are falshing. let me know

check for fuses in disconnect at the out door unit or a reset button where the copper line set goes into the unit at make sure stat wires have not been damaged hope this helps

Weather King split AC system.

Turn the power off ,and check all the electrical connections for loose connection or wires. also make sure these are slow blown timmed delayed and not one-time fuses. Thank-you verymuch!

This seems to be more a civil issue than a mechanical issue. I would simply talk to the neighbor about your concerns. Maybe they are aware of the problem and already have a plan of action.

On a mechanical side, all A/C's are going to be noisy. Some are louder than others. There is really nothing that can be done about that.

Further, you can always consult a local building official to find out the requirements for the location of the outdoor unit. If the system is in violation (and installed after the law was activated), it could be moved to a better location.

Take care in your approach as you may not have to live next to the a/c for 15 years, but you will have to live next to those neighbors regardless of where the unit is placed for the same time.
