My Ult31576 MP3 Player has not been dropped. One day it was working fine and then it just qut. I can turn it on, but all it says is ULTRA. I can't use any of the buttons. It is not in "My Computer" or device manager. The problem is not with my PC's USB port as I can use other devices. I tried the Ultra on another PC and it is not recognized In trying to delete a voice recording, I may have accidentaly deleted the firmware if this is possible? Is this ready for the trash or is there some way to save it without it costing as much as a new one? Help would be appreciated. My Ult31576 MP3 Player has not been dropped. Its a problem qith a stuck button or you broke the Printed curcuit board inside . Almost most of these units need to be shipped back to the factory for repair as they dont even fix mostly all makes and models under warranty as they are exchanged after inspection because they are assy so fast and not really worth on most of them to be handled as labor cost more then most are worth. I have seen this problem, a lot, and always is the hard drive.
Try to hold the turn on botton and keep hold until a RECOVERY MODE meny aperas, then choose the scand disk, then wait if the scan procces get finished you will the XX% to reach 100% if this happend your disk is alive, and you have a firmware problem.

It can be the harddrive that is broke. you can exchange the harddrive with a Compactflash memory 512-84gb? I hav e tried a 2gb and it worked very well. /Peter
You need to reset the player. 1)there are four screws, two on the back and 2 on the sides, 2) remove the back carefuly, 3) gently remove the battery 4) carefully unplug the battery (don't bend the prongs) 5) leave the battery out for 5 minutes or more, 6)plug the battery back in (DON'T bend the prongs), 7) test the player by turning on, 8) if successful replace the back plate and metal hoop
careful not to loose the metal hoop it is beyond tiny as are the screws. a glasses screw driver works best

I have solved it the problem is i downloaded music just into the my music libarary and not actually on to my ipod so it ment that there was no music on the unit lol!
hi, try reseting it and see what it does. to do this simply hold the middle button and the menu button down at the same time. it should reset it to factory defaults. best of luck : )
