RCA TV There are green flashes that appear consistently and sometimes the sound goes out when they come up. At first they would fade after a an hour or two but now they appear permanent. It doesn't happen when I play a dvd however. Do I need to get a new set? THis one is about 10 years old. thank you.

This is a common problem and a local repair place shouldnt charge more then 90 to 125 bucks to repair. Its the tuner and tuner sheilds that need to be resoldered. Theres even an RCA service bulletin about this repair. At one time RCA was giving out rebate coupons if you had this repair done for future purchaces of RCA products but Im not sure if they still do this . Good Luck

RCA P52754AT POPPING SOUNDS. COLOR FLICKERS AND

It sounds like your high voltage block is arcing and causing the TV to go into protection shutdown temporarily. If that's the case, you'll most likely need to replace that HVB.
The other thing it could be if you're hearing "popping" (snapping ?), is that one of the CRTs could be arcing to ground, maybe the green one since you're getting too much green.
Good luck.

My rca 36" tv went out the green light is blinking but no sound or picture

The TV is on protect mode.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

Also ensure that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending bad signal, check if you get same problem with no receiver box or dvd connected.

If that does not work, and you keep having a flashing led on front of the TV, and tv turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible reasons.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , startingthe flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then theTV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, a convergence IC has blown, or a fault on Digital board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

17 yr. old 35" RCA loses color intermittently. Picture & sound ok

Three guns Red Blue and Green in the picture tube of an old CRT set. If one of the guns goes out it effects that color. Sounds like one of the guns inside of the tube is going out, To costly to replace for such an old antilog set that will have to have a convertor box next month anyway.

Green picture

a green screen on power up with retrace lines. At shut down a point appears in the middle of the screen. Sounds like either a shorted G2 grid, or bad flyback. If a phospher flake has shorted the grid in the tube, you can sometimes have luck by using a megger set at 1000VDC, to burn away the short. This is usually caused by the line HV going too high causing the anti-UV protection to kick in so fit a dummy load 40W lamp instead to the line output to allow measurements to be made.

Loose Picture (Goes completely Black)

Nothing special about that board as I cant seem to find that # but If my memory serves me correctly it sounds like a crt board and its a simple soldering job on the crt socket?? Altough Im not there to see the set still 550.00 seems like an awfull lot to repair a set even if they have to replace the entire chassis. I think you should cal rca and take it to an authorized RCA repair center and if the shop you took it to was an rca authorized center I would also report that to them(RCA). Good Luck
