I too have the same problem but did not link it with Norton 360 but now that I think of it, that is about the time it started.

download and install Norton 360 version 4.0

run live update, run full system scan also click on setting ----> firewall --------> program rule find internet Explorer and click on allow.

I have Norton 360 4.1 and Novatix Explorer Plus 6.2 and right-click context menus caused crashes after installing Norton 360. I followed all the directions above but the problem persists. I then searched for, downloaded, installed and ran Nirsoft ShellExView http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.ht... and was able to isolate the offending shell extension. It was the "ExplorerPlus ZIP Extension" lines. There will be two next to each other that act together. Once disabled I no longer had the Explorer Plus context menu add-ons but the crashes stopped. ~DWK

you have to totally remove it with norton removal tool and then try installation again. Download it and then open the file by clicking on it in the downloaded file list or look for the download folder or right click on file and select open containing folder.

How i can reuse the norton 360 v 4.3.0.5 Its trial period is expired. Plz send me product key or trial reseter. special thanks

Please remove the existing version of Norton program from the control panel, then go ahead and delete all Symantec and Norton files from the computer's C or D drive.

After that, open your registry and first take a back up just in case anything get deleted by mistake.
Then delete all Norton and Symantec files from HK CURRENT USER, HKEY LOCAL MACHINE, HKEY USERS, HKEY CURRENT CONFIG.

You can click on the SOFTWARE folder in each class to find the Norton files if any.
To open your registry editor, type regedit in RUN command (windows key+R)

After that you can again install a trial version of Norton for 30 days.

Do not have a norton 360 icon on desktop only have norton internet secuirty or symantec live update which will not do anything when clicked on ( norton 360 not working on this computer )

Did you purchase the 360 program if so sometimes after you install it wont automatically place an icon on the desktop if you fail to check the little box during installation. If you have purchased it you can locate it in the start menu. Locate the folder and right click to pin a shortcut to the desktop.

Norton 360 pop-up demndg activation bugs me even after activating

Seems there is an issue with the software instance installed on your computer. You may have to uninstall the version completely and reinstall and reactivate the product. To do this, try the following steps:
  1. Click Here to download the Norton Removal Tool. Download the file from the website and save it on your desktop. Now run the file (Right-click and Run as Administrator for Vista and Win7 users). After cleanup, the tool would ask you to reboot your machine. This removes the Norton product completely from your computer.
  2. Now goto http://www.symantec.com/norton/index.jsp and download the trial version of your product and install it on the computer. You can also use the disk for installation, if you have one.
  3. On installation, the product would give you the activation screen to register the product. Fill in your activation details appropriately to activate the license.

Done!

I deleted my norton 360 by accident i want to reinstall

Before you could reinstall the product, you need to ensure that the last instance of the product has been removed completely else it may create issues with the new installation. To do this, follow the steps below:

Where does Norton 360 store the Cards & Log-ins information. I would like to back this up for any future system crashes.

The log viewer application for Norton 360 is located at the following location:

c:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared ... and then opening ccLgView.exe

You can double-click on that application and then see the log categories on the left side.

I have difficulty in uninstalling my nortan antivirus software

Here are the steps to Remove it Fully :

  1. Go to Start --> Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs.
  2. Scroll down to your Norton program
  3. Click Change --> Remove All.
You will be asked to restart your PC. Do so.
  4. Now go to Start --> My Computer --> Program Files. Right click on each Symantec folder and select Delete.
  5. While you are in Program Files go to the Common Files folder at or near the top of the Program Files window. Delete every Symantec folder there. And, again, restart your PC.
  6. Go to Start --> Search --> All Files and Folders --> More Advanced Options. Check each option except for "Case sensitive"
Now type in Norton and delete each Norton folder from the search results (Again, right click, choose "Delete"). One more time, restart your PC.
  7. Repeat step 5 except type Symantec in the "Search" box.

The next step is trickier: go into the Registry.
  1. First thing to do is Back up the Registry. I'll be saying more about the Registry later. But suffice it to say that the presence of uninstalled security software in the Registry can conflict with newly installed security software and cause system freezes. So can folders of "uninstalled" programs for that matter.
  2. Once again, go to Start, then click on "Run". Type in "regedit"
  3. Go to the top of the Regedit window. Click (+) next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER. Go down the thread until you see Software. Click on Software and scroll down the thread until you see Symantec. Right click on Symantec and choose "Delete".
  4. From there go down to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and repeat step 3. Restart your PC.
  5. Click (+) next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, now: Click (+) next to Software, Click (+) next to Microsoft, Click (+) next to Windows and Click (+) next to CurrentVersion.
  6. Select the Run folder. Right-click and delete each Symantec entry you see (if present). Restart your PC.
That should completely eradicate Norton Antivirus from your system!

I purose Norton 360 02 and I am having trouble installing it on my computer. When I use teh CD it begins to install the program and the stops saying it can't a file, something like msi. I don't know...

Hello,

I would suggest removing ALL detected Norton and Symantec products with the Norton Removal Tool for Norton 360 found here.

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2007080716223439?Open&docid=2005033108162039&nsf=tsgeninfo.nsf&view=docid

After the uninstall of all Norton and Symantec programs you will also want to download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility found here. The download link is at the bottom of the More Information section,

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

After the utility is installed and ran you will want to remove all Norton and Symantec programs listed in the removal list.

After you remove the programs and restart you should be able to reinstall the Norton 360 program.

I hope this helps. Please remember to rate this information.

Thanks
