I think the problem was related to the id3 tagging, but i wasnt able to
conclusively determine that. I had to uninstall the nomad
explorer, and reinstall it. That didnt stop it from happening again,
but each time the same solution worked. Then the thing crapped on
itself furthur. It would turn off then back on, and say it was
rebuilding the library. Then it would turn itself off midway
through that, and start over. I removed the battery, and put it
back in. The thing made it all the way through the rebuild of the
library, then just had a little icon on the display saying firmware
problem. The solution was a firmware upgrade. I had to hold
down the play button while sticking a paper clip in the reset.
Then a menu came up and i selected reset OS. It deleted the OS,
and re-upped one from the file i found at the creative website.
The problem recurred at least once, and the solution was the same each
time. It never lost any content while going through this
rigamarole, but i did lose some hours fggin with it.
if it keeps on rebuilding the library the disk had a bad spot on it try going in to recover mode and do a clean if that doesn't work do a format if that doesn't work download the latest firmware if that doesn't fix you will need a new hard drive or flash drive.
try downloading the MP3 player recovery tool from Creative's website (the tool contains the latest firmware update available -- 1.15.03). Plug your ZV+ into your PC, run the program and let it update the firmware. Then format, reload your music and try it.
By the way, before updating the firmware, let the battery have a full charge, ok?
