You can try to Repair your Windows using the Windows installation CD (for Repair choose R when prompted). You can let the automatic repair to try and fix it, if that doesn't work upon restart reboot and start the Repair again, but this time select Command Prompt or Console and put in "bootrec /rebuildbcd" without the quotes. If you don't have Windows installation CD you can try downloading Hiren's Boot CD and try to fix the bootmgr with the utilities from the disc: http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/
Get your Vista installation DVD and pop it into your drive. - Then restart your computer. - Set your computer to boot from DVD or CD in your BIOS.
Vista
will ask you for language and keyboard layout information, after which
you will be asked if you want to re-install Vista or repair your
existing installation. Select Repair. After which Vista's System Recovery Tool will start.
Select Startup Repair and let Vista do its thing! That really is all there is to it!
The fix will require that you have the Windows XP cd. Maybe you can borrow one from a friend in order to fix this. Once you have the cd, navigate to the following link for step by step instructons.
