Netgear Test Mode (remains amber)

I have purchased/implemented 100 Netgear FVS318 VPN firewalls. In two of the units (installed at the same location) there is no outside connectivity. The test mode blinks amber continously. A hard reset does not reset the unit. Is the problem due to a DC (y-cable connection) surge? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am trying to install my FVS318G

If you just plug it in - it should work. Are you using DSL or Cable - in either case just plug router WAN PORT into modem and then plug computer into and LAN PORTs on the router. Now configuring the unit is a different question

Why is it that when i connect to prosafe vpn i am unable to connent to web pages

It probably has something to do with the fact that this particular model is not meant for personal use, but in big corporations. It does not support UPnP which allows possibly harmful programs that are accessing your router to auto configure the security settings on your router. If you got any more problems with your router, maybe you should check out this cool users manual. It really helped me a lot, maybe it will help you, too :)

Where do i find UPnP on the the fvs318 netgear prosafe VPN firewall router, i cant find it on the main configuration menu

The netgear prosafe VPN router is a high-end component ment for business and corporate use and does not support UPnP

UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) allows programs accessing your router (limewire, utorrent, etc...) to auto configure the security settings on your router which would be harmful to a business/corp. network.

I an not get on facebook! it is saying netgear firewall this website it blocked! how do i fix it????

Well, the issue is the router. Who owns the router? If it is yours, you need to call netgear for router setting assistance. if it is a company router, speak to the administrator, and stay off facebook while at work or School!

Netgear FVS318 Question

Yes, it can provide keyword blocking and website url additions. For a higher end solution in the same family you can also look at the FVS538.

New computer, router dropping sites?

Log on to the router and make sure that these sites haven't been placed in a block list for whatever reason.

Check the Netgear website for firmware updates required.

Won't let me connect to PlayStation 2 online

no need to turn off the router's firewall... just forward the ps2 port number on the router. make sure you manually assign static ip address to your ps2.
