Blank LCD screen?

I have a JVC GR-DVP7E and the LCD monitor screen is blank whenever I open it. I can look through the viewfinder ok but I get no image at all on the LCD screen. This was a gradual thing where the screen over half a year started to flick off and you sometimes just had to give it a tap to make the image appear. Now it wont come on at all! What could the problem be and would it be expensive to fix?

Its probably a broken flex cable or the LCD is bad now because of all the flicking going on?? The flex cables about 15 bucks depending on where you get it but if your not good with really tiny electronics I would let a pro do the repair for you as you can cause alot of damage, as you could break other flex cables just taking it apart. Good Luck

When in video recording mode LCD screen and viewfinder are black when the lens cap is off.

It could one of a few problems:

1. The viewfinder is pulled out and "PRIORITY" is set to "FINDER".

Push the viewfinder back in or set "PRIORITY" to "LCD".

2. The LCD monitor's brightness setting is too dark.

Adjust the brightness of the LCD monitor.

3. If the monitor is tilted upward 180 degrees, open the monitor fully.

The problem i m having with my camcorder is when i want to record film screen goes blank but i can watch my previous recorded videos

Look in the view finder when recording instead of the screen. if you see the image there then the unit is probably set to look through there. Many of the new units dont' have a full view finder to lens item they actually have a small lcd screen inside the view finder. Check your options for recording.

Also if the view finder is tilted you need to close that before usign the lcd.

The image will not appear simultaneously on the LCD

monitor and the viewfinder. It will appear in the

viewfinder when the LCD monitor is in the lock position,

and it will appear on the LCD monitor when fully
extended.

The viewfinder on my gr-dvm5 isnt working it is just blank

Possible fault in the display unit , either the LCD drive has failed or a pico fuse has blown inside.
Remove battery and insert after sometime and see if there is any signs of picture coming in and then getting blank. If so the display processing is faulty.
It will be better to get the camcorder checked by the JVC service for an estimation to decide.

No picture coming thru on lcd monitor or viewfinder. Lenscap-on advisory is displayed tho lenscap is not on. All camera setting dispays on monitor are OK. Screen just blank with power on auto or manual. On...

Further research indicates this is a common problem with JVC camcorders.
If it were a car there probably would have been a factory recall. I'm sending it to JVC Service,1500 Lakes Parkway,Lawrenceville,GA 30043 for repair.

I have a GR-D53EK but cannot see a picture

if it's changing when you move the LC it's propably that responsable is the flex wire connecting LCD with camcorder. I bought it in the repair shop and did it by miself. save a lot of money.
Good luck

Dark screen- No images- some shadows horizontally

If you get a blank LCD, dimly lightened by a whitish back light, then the LCD display eis either faulty, badly connected, or the ribbon connector to LCD is defective.
The camera must be taken apart, ribbon cable tested, and eventually replaced and adjusted.
If all contacts on ribbon cable return continuity (cable is fine), then LCD is faulty, and must be replaced.
Althought the job is not too difficult, an user without experience may damage the camera in attempting this repair.
My first suggestion is always taking the unit to a camera shop.

Powershot pro1 viewfinder show blank white

Hi
When the LCD screen is open the viewfinder will switch of and when it is closed the viewfinder will switch on. You can switch between the two by pressing Monitor select button to the left of the Eyepiece (Viewfinder). as you look at the back of the camera.

Hope this helps.
