HP Calibration Error

For HP Officejet 6600 / 6700 printer models which suffer a calibration error, more than likely either the PRINTHEAD has connectivity issues (i.e. remove, clean all contact points, and reinstall), compatible/clone ink cartridge chips are causing the issue, the PRINTHEAD is approaching end of life, or not all ink nozzles are firing and therefore the printer is unable to calibration. Perform the following diagnostic checks to help make a determination:

HI tech, I have this HP LJ1600 and I have this mark on the right hand side from top to bottom just as a roller mark the page. When I do a self test page there is a colour band on the right and it is split...

If the band is one particular color then it is quite possible that you have a bad toner cartridge of the color that matches the band. You can also try printing a test page from the secondary service menu. Access the menu as follows:

To enter the secondary service menu, use the following procedure:

1. Confirm that the device is in a Ready state.

2. Press the button (Select) to enter the main menu system.

3. Press the button (Left arrow) and the button (Cancel Job) simultaneously.

4. Press the button (Select) to confirm 2ndary Service.

5. Press the (Left arrow) button and button (Right arrow) to navigate to the secondary
service menu.

Find the option for test print.

CLEANS ITSELF TOO FREQUENTLY- 2-3 TIMES EACH DAY

Try maxing out your power save timers. Here are the instructions. I suspect the machine is going into power save mode to quickly. Here is how you do that.

NOTE: To save energy, the printer enters a power saver, low-energy consumption mode after a predefined period of time since its last activity. In this mode, most printer electrical systems are shut down. When a print job is sent to the printer, the printer enters the Warm-up Mode. You can also warm up the printer by pressing the [OK] button on the Control Panel.
If the printer is going into Power Saver mode too often and you do not want to wait while the printer warms up, increase the length of time before the printer goes into the Power Saver mode.
Modify the timeout value:
  1. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button on the Control Panel to select [Printer Setup] on the Display Screen, and then press the [OK] button.
  2. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button to select [Printer Controls], and then press the [OK] button.
  3. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button to select [Power Saver Timeout], and then press the [OK] button.
  4. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button to select the required timeout value (30 - 240 minutes), and then press the [OK] button.

NOTE: Select a larger timeout value to extend the length of time before the printer goes into the Power Saver mode.

  5. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button to select [Exit], and then press the [OK] button to return to the Main screen.

My phaser 8560 won't say on, so it prints out the cleaner page and info pages daily after the very long warm up session. How can I keep it running so I don't burn through this very expensive ink.

Here you go.

To enable or disable the Power Saver (Energy Star) mode:
NOTE: The printer will only have the Power Saver menu selection if the printer was sold as an Energy Star machine. The Power Saver mode can only be enabled or disabled from the Control Panel.
  1. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button on the Control Panel to select [Printer Setup] on the Display Screen, and then press the [OK] button.
  2. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button to select [Printer Controls], and then press the [OK] button.
  3. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button to select [Power Saver], and then press the [OK] button.
  4. Press the [OK] button until the required option is displayed; either 'On' or 'Off'.
  5. Press the [Down] arrow button to select [Exit], and then press the [OK] button to return to the main screen.

If you enter the config menu, you can turn off energy conserve. You enter the config menu by turning off the printer, holding the center and right arrow, and powering the printer on. Continue to hold the buttons until you see Performing self test. Then you will see config menu. If you scroll down to energy conserve and select it. You can change the option to off.
