Three major components usually is causing this kind of problem. One is the memory card. Two the video card . and lastly worst is the motherboard. Check and clean your memory card first then put it back to its place of slot. Start your computer. If you hear one beep but still no pictures, the problem lies in your video card. If there's still no beep sound and picture, and you think your memory card is good, try to clean your video card, then start your computer. If there is still no picture, and you think your video card is good, then you have a problem with your motherboard. Indication that your cpu is working were, beeping sounds, lead lights blinking or changing sequence is present. If it is present, your monitor has a defect an needs to be replaced. But if none of this is present, we have a motherboard problem.

Monitor stays dark

Hi Don, If the monitor is showing that message it means that it is not getting a video signal from the computer.. Check that all of your connectors are fully plugged in and properly fastened. Restart the computer and see what happens. If you still get the message they replace the video cable and try again. If the result is still the samew then you either have a problem at the monitor or, more likely as your other monitor didn't work, a problem with the video card in the computer.

When my computer says check signal cable what does it mean?

Your monitor is telling you that it thinks it is not receiving a video signal from the computer. You need to verify which of three components is not working, the computer, the cable, or the monitor.

The first thing to do, obviously, is to check that the cable connecting the computer to monitor is good. You will need some extra components to do the checking. I'm going to assume that the cable is detachable at both ends.
First you can try replacing the cable with different one. If the replacement cable works, then it's the cable.
Secondly, you can try different monitor. If you connect this in place of the first monitor, and it works, it's a faulty monitor (needs repairing or replacing).
Third try a different computer with the original cable and monitor, if it all works it looks like the video on your PC has malfunctioned. (This might also be your conclusion if a system comprising a different cable and monitor fails to work with the original PC)
You might just be able to verify the cable by testing the connectivity of all the wires in the cable with a meter, if you knew the pin out of the cable at both ends.
If you find out the computer is getting a signal out, there could be many causes for that, each having its own solution (or not as the case may be)

Asus crosshair socket am2 motherboard not booting

Sounds like your monitor is bad. Try another monitor because if the video card was bad and the monitor is working you would get a No Signal message on the screen. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and connect it to the computer. If the Borrowed monitor displays ok, then your original monitor is bad. If the Borrowed monitor does the same as your original monitor and does not display anything, then there is an issue with your video card.

Hi, what was the LCD displaying is that he is not sensing any signal from the computer video port that is why it is prompting "check signal cable". Have you tried checking the pins of your video cable from your LCD? if OK please plug in the cable again when your PC is already open to check that signal will pass thru and lets see what happen. If still the same, try to isolate it with laptop as external video if you have to check the LCD will work with other PC. If the same, replace the signal cable of your LCD if it is removable to further check the problem.

Please check the cable that connects the monitor to the video card. Reseat the cable, the issue might be a loose connection. You can also try a known good monitor to isolate if it's the video card or monitor that is causing the problem. Something is preventing the monitor from receiving signals from the video card, hence the "no signal" message.
