Question about RCA HD61LPW42 61" Rear Projection HDTV

2 Answers

Shrinking Picture RCA HD61LPW42 has a dark area in the upper left side of the screen and there seems to be a shrinking of the picture on the right side leaving a verticle line at the right screen edge. Picture is also not quite as bright as it used to be.

Thanks for the fast reply--- I'll probably wait till it gets worse before I do anything. It's just starting to become noticible.

Sounds like your main power supplyis going bad . It supose to be 130 dc but I'll bet its down to around 90 to 100 volts!!! its probably the main filter cap or the regulator IC . hard to say without measureing the b+ good luck

TV Picture shrinks down more and more until it gets to a line.

You may have a cold solder joint around the Vertical circuit. Resolder the pins of the LA7833 IC and the components around the IC.
Check the C308 220uf/35V & C320 100uf/50V.

PLTV-32- Picture on screen is larger than TV screen.

if you have HD cable try shrinking the picture there. LCD's are not subject to 'bloom' like
analog tvs. try the aspect button on the remote.

wrong picture size on a digital tv is a result of the input signal.

Screen is cutting off the sides

That is an ITC008 chassis and the problem you're referring to is called a breathing picture. One fault I am aware of in this chassis/model is the connector Bl103. I have seen a couple where the connector failed and had to be replaced. Could open it up and locate the conntector and see if it's vibration sensitive.
