When I start my kenmore Washing Maching Model number 23822, the water runs fine from the sourcse, but drains immediately out. I inspected the tab on the lid and it seems to be working properly. Sometimes, it works when I run with warm/warm. But if I use any other type of water temp, water runs constantly, but does not fill nor does it progress to the washing cycle. (aggitation.) I recently added a pvc line from the black drain hose off the back of the unit to a direct drain. Could this be the problem? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have come home after a long day of work after running the maching in the morning, only to find that it has just been running water through it all day. My hot water heating bills are enormous because of this. Thanks
LOL!!!I was gonna suggest that you check the height of the hose as I've done the exact thing in the past letting that water run all day is expensive cause here in my area they charge you more to get rid of the waist water then they do for the clean water. Go Figure?? Any who its great you got back to us. Thanks again!

After reading through the rest of the solutions I found my answer. The drain hose must be at least 34 inches off the ground.
So in the immortal words of Gilda Ranor's Emily Litella......
Nevermind.
Thanks!
