I've updated the bios to the latest release out in July of 2007, I've
updated Windows XP Professional x64 to Service Pack 2, I've tried every
concievable bios settings possible (custom, optimized & fail
safe)nothing seems to make it work right..
-Everything else works great on the system all other devices where
found and updated, BUT the onboard Network Adapter (which is visible in
the bios) is not being found by windows.
ECS's cracked out technical support team can't seem to figure it out..
-Every time I try to install the drivers for the network adapter windows says there is no adapter to assign them to and ends...
-under the device manager there is no Network Adapter in ther list
until I go to VIEW and select SHOW HIDDEN DEVICES, then a network
adapter shows up, but I think it's just the default microsoft ****- not
the actual onboard adapter
"I can't get the system on-line, is this a motherboard problem or a windows problem?"
-I have a customer thats been screaming at me for a month to get this straightened out! "I'm out of ideas, PLEASE HELP..."
-I've already shipped this mother board back to ECS once, do I have to do it again?
Try disabling the network adapter in the bios and removing any network adapter in device manager in Windows
Then reboot
Windows so it thinks there is no network adapter.
Then
Reboot into bios and re-anable the onboard network adapter.
Then see if windows detects the network adapter now that it is enabled.

I had the same problem. Tyr this.. Install windows x64 1st install the ide driver (it's a setup program) reboot 2nd go to device manager, you will see a PCI bridge device, update that driver to the lan driver on the cd. reboot Then install the rest of the drivers. If you don't do it in that order you will NEVER be able to install the Lan driver without reinstalling windows.

Is this a new installation or an existing adapter?
If new, make sure it's seated correctly in the pci slot.
When you plug the network cable in does the light on the adapter come on? If not, then your adapter is dead and it's going to need replaced.

I think before this works, your going to need Windows XP Service Pack 2 i'm sorry to say... If not just scrap the whole thing and run on Vista and get hounded by a million start-up pop-ups
SOURCE: General Networking question
lets see here, your NVIDIA thing is for your ethernet port in your computer.
the wireless PCI adapter, is well, a wireless adapter, its used to connect your wireless, and a 1394 Net Adaptor Connection is basically Win2k/XP's way of telling
you that you have a Firewire interface installed in your system.
so, if your going wireless, you dont need NVIDIA, and as your device manager shows that it has a red x on it, it shows that its disabled. as for everything else, i wouldent worry about it.

may be your router needs a firmware upgrade.
check the router's website.
and make sure the router and the wireless card are both using the same 802.11 protocol

Just today, I had this. im running on windows xp service pack 2.
things started happening when my router adsl siglnal went down.
thought, maybe a router config problem, coz ive been calling customer service a lot and they say just monitor the signal and itll be back.
5 days of intermittently restarting/rebooting my router, prolink hurricane 9200.finally discovered that the problem was on my dsl line.coz i tried using my router on my cousins phone/dsl subscription and it works.
my LAN keeps getting connected but no internet.
then out of nowhere, my LAN connection icon DISAPPEARED. just today.
i couldnt get it back and same as the first guy posting, on device manager my onboard LAN adapter on p4m800pro, its not there, when i select the show hidden devices, its there with other wan adapters.
could enable/disable, but couldnt uninstall.
my plan is to update or reinstall the drivers or reinstall xp.
but my gut tells me this is a LAN problem. somehow it got damaged when i was tinkering with the router settings. MAC addresses and the like.
however i will do what i can and post updates.
more info: when i connect my router, the LAN green light turns on. BUT, the orange functioning light is not functioning except when i power off the router or pull the lan ********.
system information tells me that there are adapters but the report is somehow incomplete.
netsh, ipconfig dont show any info.
my router is not recognized (since there is no LAN connection)
so, my router problem is solved. its my dsl line. the phone company's problem.
but now, my onboard LAN is not functioning.
my next step is to install the whole motherboards complete drivers. AND updated BIOS, too see if there is a LAN control there somewhere.
then if it doesnt work, ill reinstall XP. i have a feeling my LAN is still there, functional. (just got messed up)
then if all else fails, ill replace my motherboard. or get lan card for my PCI.
also, im trying to look for a LAN configuration tool so that i can at least get more info and look into it.
for those with the same experience please post your experiences, findings and if available, solutions.
thanks.
