Some ovens have a storage drawer under the oven door. The storage drawer is a convenient place to store pots, pans, cookie sheets and other cooking utensils. Unfortunately, sometimes the storage drawer is too full. When this happen one of the utensils becomes jammed at the top of the drawer preventing the drawer from opening. Opening an oven drawer that is stuck is a matter of adjusting the utensil that is jamming at the top of the drawer.
1.Grab the drawer handle and shake the drawer as much as possible. Sometimes this is enough to dislodge or settle the obstructing utensil.
2 .Insert a long spatula or a ruler in between the top of the drawer and bottom of the oven door. Sweep the spatula or ruler side to side. Once you feel the obstructing utensil, attempt to slide it with the spatula or maneuver the spatula over the top of the utensil and press it down as much as possible. Grab the drawer handle and attempt to open the drawer as you are pressing down on the utensil.
3 .Open the oven door fully, if the oven drawer is still stuck. There is a small gap between the oven door and the front of the oven when the door is fully open. There is also a small cap at the top of the drawer that is accessible through the gap between the door and oven.
4 .Look through the gap of the oven drawer and slide the spatula or ruler down into the drawer. Maneuver the utensils you see with the spatula. Reach under the door and pull on the drawer handle as you are moving utensils with the spatula. This is usually enough to adjust the jammed utensil enough to open the drawer.
I hope you find it very helpful. THanks.

F9 door will not lock to self clean. Is there any way that we could test anything/hold door closed to help clean/take door off oven and re-install?

The "F9" fault code is indicating the control has detected a problem with the Door Latch Motor assembly (key#89) or latch motor circuit. The door latch motor and door latch switches will need to be checked. The door must be closed in order for the door switch to energize. Try pushing inwards on the door and keep tension on it while starting a clean cycle.

Oven sef clean latch locked but door is open and I cannot clos it. I inadvertantly urned it to self clean and openedthe door and the latch is locked in self clean position. How do I release the latch so I...

Ok. Open the door and find the oven light switch(es) (some models had two switches). Press the switch(es) in and see if the latch goes back to the home position. If not enlist a volunteer to turn on the self clean cycle while you are holding the switch(es) in. Just after the self clean starts have them hit cancel and wait until the lock comes back to it's "home" or unlocked position.
Good luck!!

Latch does not catch on oven door.

Possible solution: The clean oven safety latch is in the latched position already. Move latch to opposite side and try closing door again. Latch not usually needed except during cleaning cycle.

Good luck,

Oven door stuck

To open the door, raise the oven top and use a a flat head screwdriver to open the lock manually.
The door will still lock itself when you close it, so this is only usefull to get your food out.

Problem with oven door latch

Hello noahsark,

Welcome to Fixya

You said, after Hurricane Ike, when the electricity came back on, you noticed the oven door latch was in lock position and the door would not close because it would hit the door latch. You guess the door latch locked on it's own with the surge of electricity but did not lock the door in place. And that you have never used the self cleaning oven, so the door latch has never been used. How can I get the latch to unlock itself?

Was the range get under water?
If so there may be some shorts in it or faulty electronic parts!

Try turning the range off and then turning the power off at the breaker for 5 minutes.
This is should reset the system in an electronic range.
If it works , great .
If not you may need service to diagnose your electronic problem.
Let me know that it works!!!!!

Send me the Brand and mode;l number.

Please remember to leave a rating when you finish.

Self cleaning oven door locked before I got the door closed.

Try holding in on the door switch while resetting the clean cycle.
This should rotate the latch. Once the cycle starts, cancel it. The latch should go to the unlock position.

You will have to hold in on the door switch during all these steps.

If this does not work, post back with the complete model number from the oven and I will see what else I can come up with.
