Question about Maytag Atlantis MAV9750A Top Load Washer

1 Answer

Water filling My water pulsates as the machine fills. I can almost eliminate the problem by setting the water temp. to anything other than warm/warm. It pulsates enough to cause the supply hot water pipe supply to hammer. I suspect that the water control valve it the cause but want another opinion before I buy parts and get into the machine to change it. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Before you replace the water valve itself, take the hot water hose off and inspect the screen at the valve inlet. There could be a lot of grit restricting it. If the screen is clear, than I would be in agreement with you that it is the valve itslef..hope this helps you.

Hot water hose pulsates when washer is filling up in warm setting.

It's the pressure from the hot water supply to your machine, if you fill from hot water tap, turn tap down a little to reduce the water flow. Should be OK then

Washer filling problem

Check to hose to the water level control. It goes from the outside of the tub up to the control which is located in the same area as the timer. It's usually round with the end of that tube and at least 2 wires connected to it. Disconnect the hose and blow air through it. Reconnect and try again. Still no fill, try filling with that tube disconnected. Watch it the entire time as with the tube off the water should not stop. If it fills all the way with the tube off the water control unit has a problem.

Washer will not fill up with hot water however it will with warm

Is your water temp on your water heater set high enough? If it is sounds like you are getting water from both hot & cold water valves. If temp is set correctly on machine temp switch may be bad on warm all time.

My Kenmore front loader sometimes fills with warm water on cold setting.

Most washer today use automatic temp. control fill valves. If water is too cold the control might mix in some hot to bring up to a preset temp. The same is true when control set for hot. For energy savings cold water will be mixed in to maintain a semi hot temp. Check with manufacture just to be sure.

Yes, this is normal. All newer washer have auto temp control fills. This is to meet energy saving requirements. The less hot water used the more energy saved. Most hot settings on washers give out basically lukewarm water. The detergent made today is made to work well with cooler temperature water, so things will still come out clean.

For low water volume - or "Trickling" effect...

1. Turn off the water supply to both hoses.
2. Remove hoses (one at a time so you don't get them confused)
3. On the washer side - look for a removeable screen inside wher you just removed the hose.
4. Using a small screwdriver - pop out the screen and reverse-flush it/clean it. It will likely be full of sediment and calcium deposits from your pipes.
5. Replace the inlet screens.
6. Re-fit the hose to the machine.
7. Turn on water supply valves.
8. re-try.

Pulsating water in the hot water cycle

id be curious as to the age of this machine, because the newer models have what teh call adaptive water temp sensors that will optimize the water temp automatically.. your hot water may be "too hot" and your cold can be "too cold" and the valve corrects to a preset temp. this sounds like whats happening
