Thats an indication that no disc or wrong type of disc is present. Have you tryed to clean the laser lens>> or using the approved lens cleaner for this unit?? try it and see you may be surprised. good luck

When camcorder is turned on the screen shows red or yellow screen

I have the same problem of picture distortion when recording on my PV-GS200 camcorder. It's due to a faulty CCD block, which you can read about on various websites. I can play back pre-CCD failure tapes without a problem. Panasonic recalled quite a few GS200 camcorders with specific serial numbers in the US and Canada, and replaced the faulty 3-CCD chip free of charge. I just discovered this tonight and intend to ring Panasonic tomorrow, as the camcorder - bought new - lasted only two years before the CCD fault became apparent. Obviously, the camcorder was not of merchantable quality.

Doesn't record

The most obvious problem here would be the Lens Cap. Is it removed? Information on the screen-- time and date, recording speed, etc., indicates the LCD is working-- this is likely a faulty CCD. The CCD is a tiny sensor in the camera that receives the image from the lens, like film in a camera. If yours is a JVC camcorder, check out this link. http://www.jvcservice.com/service/custnoticecamcorder.asp?ReqType=CCD

Panasonic models also have some CCD issues. Hope this helps.

Help with my Panasonic nv-ds1 camcorder ? ? ?

Its the tape is stuck or the mechanism is jammed or the small pan caps have started there demise of your camcorder.. Inside most camcorders there are small surface mounted capacitors made by panasonic and they all I say ALL will leak one day and when they do its not just the cap thats bad but if left unattended it will eat up the Printed curcuit traces on the pc board. Have the unit looked at right away by a camcorder expert and see if its too late to save the board. Good Luck
