Question about Sun Blade 2500 PC Desktop

Sun Blade 2500 Have an APC Smart UPS that won't talk to serial port. UPS is OK because it works on another Sun Blade 2500. I have compared the port setups on both machines and they are the same. This used to work. The only thing I can come up with is that the port is faulty.

The port may be faulty, but you may also not have the software installed in the server to talk to the UPS.

Did you run this test without AC input?
Also what happens when you cut off the AC mains without any load connected to it? Will the UPS continue to run or does it switch off as well?

Voltage Boost, Turn off?

The only way to set this is to connect to the ups via serial port and have the program APC uses to set the parameters on the UPS. THis is the only way.

Unplug your UPS from the wall. Disconnect the batteries. Push the on button. LED's may flash. This is how to reset the logic. Connect the batteries and plug back in. Everything should be reset.

This older model APC does not support USB and it is inlikely that even if you found a cable that would connect them that the electronics in this unit would play nice with USB. Might be time to consider an upgrade, although these are a great units they just do not have the compatibility with newer computers.

How to connect a UPS to a computer? why some UPS with RS-232 port some UPS not? What is difference from APC smart UPS and normal APC UPS? Why APC with same VA output, but the price is so much difference?

A UPS goes between the Power Socket and the PC equipment.
So ya can "Talk" to the UPS and change monitor settings. So do some don't depends wat ya want?
A "Smart" one is computer controlled, and most probably ya can "Talk" to it, the other is the "Vanilla" model, real plain.

Hello Dear Specialists I have a problem with the APC Smart-UPS smart 1000VA: when I insert the
power plug in the wall outlet in one ups , indicate the AVR Boost ups regulating low AC voltage, when I measuring the AC city power voltage that is 207v .whey this ups is not working about the AC low voltage? ,but it should be work from (170v ~ 230v) AC input volte.please solve this problem, which element of AVR from the ups is failed or wrong and give me free circuit diagram low & high AVR and charger and inverter circuits. thanks allot
