Hi, I have a GE TFX24E refrigerator. The ice maker is not filling with water. I replaced teh water valve with no joy. If I pour a cup of water into the dispenser the ice maker will freeze and harvest the ice. Any ideas? Is there a replaceable water fill sensor?

SOURCE: I have a GE Profile PSW23PSTA Refrigerator. The

ok.There is a water valve at the back of ice-maker unit. This valve open and the water enters the ice maker unit. This valve only opens when the ice maker has emptied the collected ice.But if in case this valve is not functioning properly and due to that very small amount of water is always entering the ice-maker unit and ice collected gets wet.So first thing to get the valve checked. Its a valve with twin nozzles. One goes to ice maker and one for water dispenser. In most of the cases this valve checked out faulty. But if valve checked out ok then other possibility to be checked is water fill tube which enters the ice maker section. If this fill tube is got kinked or its cracked then it will leak water to the ice maker section.------------- If any of the part checked faulty then you can get it from online site like or from searspartsdirect online site.---------This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

i am wondering if ice is constantly getting stuck or are the cubes smaller that the size of the mold? if that is the case have you tried replacing the water filter. The typically reason ice gets stuck in the mold is because the individual cubes (usually 7 or 8 per mold) are too small, the leading cause of that is not enough water in the mold
Also is water dispensing through the door with good pressure, if no replace filter but first check the pressure of the incoming water from house plumbing

What your describing sounds to me like a classic case of the water valve sticking open, as you have stated and replacing it will resolve your problem.

Our refrigerator stopped making ice. The water comes out fine. How do we correct this problem?

There are two sides to the water control valve=> WR57X10051 Dual Water Control Valve It's possible the side for the ice maker has failed. Try filling the ice maker with tap water and allow it to freeze. If the ice drops after freezing and the ice maker does not refill this will point to needing replace the WR57X10051 Dual Water Control Valve If the ice maker does nothing then that points to the ice maker itself=> WR30X10093 Ice Maker Assembly I will be here should you have questions, Thanks Sea Breeze

How to troubleshoot ice maker for my GE refrigerator

The first thing to check is the temperature in the freezer. Even though everything is frozen the ice maker won't cycle unless its below 10 degrees F as a safety precaution. If the temperature is good, and since you can't manually advanve the ice maker, or not suppose to anyway what I would do is turn the ice maker off a few minutes and then turn it back on, but when you do pay close attention to the fill tube where the water comes in at, because if the valve is good, a little water should flow up real quickly. If this happens, change the icemaker.

Remove the cover on the ice maker. Look on the main drive wheel for a missing tooth.
If that tooth is missing the water won't fill. Cheap part easy fix

Ice tray won"t fill with

Ice maker stopped making ice. For this problem you have check few things. First thing, is the water filling in the ice maker chamber and then ice maker not making ice? Or, the water is not filling in the ice maker chamber so it's not making ice. If the water is not filling in the ice maker chamber then it's clear that ice is not getting made due to no water in the chamber. For no water filling, the problem is either water supply valve turned off so water is not filling. Turn on the water supply and it will fill. But if the water supply is turned on then the other possibility is ice blockage in the water fill tube. There is a tube from which the water runs and enters the ice maker chamber. If this tube is blocked then water will not enter the chamber. The tube needs to be defrosted, by using hair dryer. This procedure melts the ice collected in the tube and water starts running again. But if water fill tube is completely clear and no ice blockage or any other blockage. Then other possibility is water valve at the back of ice maker unit. This water valve is for letting the water in the ice maker. The water valve open only for 7 seconds and in this time the water fills in the ice maker chamber and then water valve closes and the same procedure runs again in the next water filling cycle.------- For your information I will mention that there are two valves. One is the main valve the back of the fridge section. This main valve lets the water enter the refrigerator and other valve is at the back of ice-maker section. This other valve lets the water to enter the ice maker. In most of the cases the fault is water valve at the back of ice maker section. ------------- The other above possibilities which I gave you is water not filling in ice-maker chamber so it's not making ice. But now consider that water is filling in ice maker chamber but it's still not making ice. Then the problem is ice maker unit itself. This unit is controlled by main board. But in most cases if water is filling the ice maker but it's not making ice then its faulty ice maker unit. So see if the problem is water not entering the ice maker then the water fill tube is frosted by ice or the water valve at the back of ice maker is faulty. Replace the valve. ------------

You can get required parts from sears part direct online site or from site.

Refrigerator cannot produce ice

First you need to list the model number of your GE to get correct answers. The problem is either you water control valve or the ice maker itself. If filling the ice maker with tap water and it freezes and dumps without the ice maker refilling then I would point to water control valve for the ice maker side and if the ice maker when filled does nothing the the ice maker is defective. GE profile side-by-side water dispenser works, no ice though

Ice maker bad or the ice maker water valve mounted on the same bracket as the dispenser is bad. These frigs are prone to bad ice makers after a few years.

GE side by side; model # TFX25JRYD Serial #

So the dispenser is getting water. Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

If the valves clicks but water doesn't get to ice maker the fill tube can be stopped up with ice.The water inlet valve on the back of the unit where the water supply comes in can have a slow leak and will cause ice to buildup and block the fill tube. Disconnect the ice maker line from the valve and watch to see if it has a slow drip. It doesn’t take much to eventually block the fill tube.
