My voice is not being heard

I connected the Actiontec Phone Wizard (http://www.actiontec.com/support/voip/manual.pdf) to my PC (via USB), to my phone POTS line (via RJ11 jack) and to my old landline phone (via RJ11 jack), and it all seems to work fine. When I pick up the phone and dial ##, the dial tone I hear switches to a "skype" dial tone, and when I dial a number, it routes it to Skypeout and the call connects. This is where the problem starts. I can hear the other party answer the phone, and their voice comes through clearly on my handset. When I speak into the handset, however, they cannot hear me. Although the sound output from Skype makes its way to my handset, my voice is not making its way back to skype because after about 15 seconds, Skype shows an on-screen message saying it is not receiving any sound input. I hope this is a software configuration problem. Any ideas?

Hi alwayes start chcking a problem from the end and back 1) check the MIC on your handset - connect it to something else and see if it works good... 2) check your output if there is any noise (voltage, other system....) if all is good then the problem is probeply in your COMP: check all audio configurations if that didnt help then its a hardware problem.... good luck

I have an GT704-WG Rev B; Firmware= 30.17.0 which is connected to my (Macintosh) iMac running OS 10.6.7. Until about 6 months ago my older laptop (Mac, iBook, PowerPC purchased in 2001) was able to use...

Turn the Verizon router off.
Turn the ActionTec router off.
Turn the Verizon router on, and wait until its pattern of lights settles-down to a steady pattern, i.e., fully rebooted.
Turn the ActionTec router on.
Turn the ActionTec router on, and wait until its pattern of lights settles-down to a steady pattern, i.e., fully rebooted.
Use an Ethernet cable to connect from one of the LAN ports on the ActionTec router to the network port on your iMac.
You should now have Internet access.

The next step is to start Safari on the Mac, and connect to the web-server "inside" the ActionTec router, e.g., try http://192.168.0.1 and http://192.168.1.1 and http://192.168.2.1

Login to the router, and run the Wireless Networking Setup Wizard, to configure the wireless adapter:
* SSID -- the name of your network
* encryption-level, e.g., use 'WPA' or 'WPA2'
* password for your SSID

Once you've done this, any of your wireless devices should be able to connect to that SSID, and gain Internet access.

Have actiontec dsl modem router combo i believe because with our contract w/qwest we have wifi connection they gave us 2 actiontec wifi usb adapters but xbox360 doesnt reconize the adapter, i have xp media...

You have two options that I know will work.

Run a Ethernet cable from you router or switch to the XBOX and just plug it in. Ethernet is good for 325 feet but it is best if you keep it below 300 feet. Here is a good place to shop for this type of stuff: www.newegg.com

You can also get an WIFI adapter that is 100% compatible with your XBOX. Actiontec is the worst of the worst. Here is an real Microsoft XBOX adapter: http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Wireless-Network-Adapter-Networks/dp/B000B6MLV4

FYI: Customer support at any ISP or cable company are non-technical people that have no knowledge of how things work. If they did they would be answering phones all day. I find it hard to believe that they would know what works on an XBOX and they are fools for recommending Actiontec products.

Once i open my router how do i actually open the ports for xbox tcp80,udp88,exctra im using a action tec gt704wg wireless router

http://www.actiontec.com/support/product_details.php?pid=40&typ=doc
Your manual above it also shows you how to open ports in there.
Also if you go to http://portforward.com/, they will show you how to do it too. Go to the link below.
http://www.portforward.com/networking/staticip-xbox360.htm

Actiontec Gateways and Routers are compatible with the Xbox. However, it may be necessary to forward the ports used by the Xbox, in the Actiontec Gateway or Router. Without Port Forwarding, the Xbox Connection Test may report a "NAT" rating of "STRICT" or "MODERATE", rather than "OPEN".
It is also explained below...

USB port on Actiontec for shared printer?

There is supposedly a firmware upgrade available that extends the functions of the usb port so the short answer is "maybe"

My best suggestion is to check out the actiontek web site. Also you should try access the setting page (http://192.168.1.1) and see what options are available within the router itself for USB

Linking wrt54g with actiontec m1424wr

You need to check the ip address of your actiontec router, the default ip address of linksys router is 192.168.1.1, they should not be the same or else you will not able to connect the router to the internet.

To access the router web configuration
http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=3676&p_sid=fvzPHEYi&p_lva=3687#

http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_CASupport_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1166859837401&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=3740145678B574

Let me also give you the site on how to add the linksys router to another existing router.

The linksys has 4 LAN port and 1 "Internet" port on the back - we ONLY use the LAN ports NEVER the Internet port - because your existing router is connected to the Internet - your linksys is connected to the LAN

You can use USB instead of Ethernet port but its not a common practise. Leave it empty then.
