Question about RCA 27F534T TV

2 Answers

I have an RCA 27F534TYX5 model. Tube won't turn on any longer. Blue power button lights up, but no display. Can't turn the unit off unless its unplugged from the wall. Opened up the rear of the unit. Main power fuse checks good. No visible damage to the circuit boards. All connectors are seated. I'm capable with a solding iron and a multi-meter, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you very much for getting back to me so quickly. I had a hard time getting to the transformer leads while the board was energized. I eventually pulled the data sheet for the SMPS controller chip. It's a TEA1520P. Getting on the IC's pins was much easier (and safer). I had ~157VDC from pin 8 (source) to pin 2 (GND). Hopefully this is the same point you were asking me to measure. The LV side of the converter has an output of 5.22VDC.

Thank you again for your help.

sorry, pin 8 is the drain, not the source.

  • billroone617 Sep 03, 2011

Not sure if my first response went thru.

I couldn't get to the transformer widings very easily while power was applied to the board. I eventually probed the pins on the SMPS controller IC. The part is a TEA1520P 8-pin DIP. Measuring from pin 8 (Drain) to pin 2 (return) was ~157VDC. Hopefuly this is equivalent to the point you instructed me to measure. I also measured about 5.2VDC on the output of the converter.

Thank you again for your assistance.

Hi welcome to fixya
here is on how will you isolate the problem since their is a light indicator which mean the voltage from the power supply is pass through going to rectifier up to the filter capacitor but doesn't continue going to the whole circuit. now you will need to have a voltage checking at the horizontal output transistor, you need to have at least around 110V at the collector of the transistor if not the whole circuit will not turn on. also check if their is a high voltage at the flyback transformer at the same time if their is a heater light at the neck of the picture tube. if none you need to check an open resistance ( resistors ) from regulator going to horizontal section usually fusible resistor ( low resistance ) you can use your multi tester to check those parts. you can find replacement parts at www.digikey.com. hope this will help you feel free to ask further assistance thanks for consulting the fixya.

OK does it mean that you have a B+ voltage but the high voltage is not able to switch..

you can check the H-out if shorted or any bulged capacitors..

Power button only one that won't turn power on

Have the remote tested either with a tester that most shops have or in a dark room with a digital camera the display will faintly flash when remote pointed at it and buttons pressed.

Also if button does not work (power) unplug the set for a while to see if it will reset. If the tester shows same problem--no working for power or have to press ******* buttons 99% chance something got spilled onto remote and got inside

My "50" RCA Scenium won't

That's usually caused by a bad lamp. However that chassis is famous for having bad caps on the power board. The repair kit is available at the following link and has repair instructions included. http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/product_info.php/pName/rca-atc336-dlp-power-board-repair-kit/cName/repair-kits

I have a RCA 14"

Main control board is toast. Really not worth repairing unless it's in a specialty location. If it is, it's going to have to go to a repair center.

I have a convection bread maker. I made one loaf of bread tonight and i unplugged the machine. 30 minutes later, I tried to make a second loaf ant the menu select wouldn't work but the start and mix in...

Cuisinart has many different bread machine models. Next time you ask a question, please include a model number. Thank you.

Here's my generic best advice for you dear:

Addressing Power-up/Start-up Issues:

1. Unplug the breadmaker.

2. Confirm the power source you're accessing is live using a blender, toaster, etc.

3. Plug the breadmaker in.

4. Confirm the breadmaker is receiving power:

    1. Some models have a built-in off/on toggle power switch. Turn it to the ON position.
    2. Some models confirm power by making and audible tone when plugged in.
    3. Some models have a colored light and/or a lighted display screen that lights up.
    4. Some models require you press and hold the Select button down until the unit powers up.
    5. Some models require you press and hold the Start button down until the unit powers up.
    6. Some models require you select a mode first by pressing the Select button.
    7. Some models require you press and hold the Stop button down until the unit powers up.

Were you able to confirm that your breadmaker is receiving power?

No. Sorry to hear that. Attempt to have the breadmaker serviced by a small appliance repair facility or simply discard it.

Yes, Fantastic! Now reboot the breadmaker's electronics by pressing and holding down the Stop button down until you receive a visible and/or audible confirmation, usually within 1 to 5 seconds. Note: Some models require you press and hold the Start button. Others require you press and hold the Select button.

Often the + and - Timer Delay buttons are pressed by mistake, delaying Start by up to 12 hours. If you suspect the Timer Delay feature has been engaged accidentally, you'll need to reboot the breadmaker's electronics.

All breadmaker use a belt and pulley system. If your breadmaker powers-up but the mixer won't turn when it's supposed to, your belt is probably broken. You'll need to disassemble the breadmaker to visually confirm.

West Bend Bread Maker model 41056 does not start. When machine is plugged in, LED displays a time but buttons do not work and red light does not go on. (Pan was in machine and anchored.)

Power-Up/Start-Up Issues:

  1. Unplug the breadmaker.
  2. Confirm the power source you're drawing from is live using a blender, toaster, etc.
  3. Plug the breadmaker in, unplug it, then plug it in a second time.

    1. Some models have a built-in off/on toggle power switch. Be sure it's turned on.
    2. Most models confirm power by making an audible beep when plugged in.
    3. Most models have a colored light and/or a lighted display screen that lights up.
    4. Most models require you press down on the Stop button until the unit powers up.

E. Some models require you press down on the Start button until the unit powers up.

F. Some models require you press down on the Select button until the unit powers up.

G. Many models require you select a baking mode by pressing the Select button before the pressing the Start button.

Q: In the end, were you able to confirm your breadmaker is receiving power?

No. Sorry to hear that. Have it serviced by a small appliance repair shop or simply discard it.

Yes. Fantastic! Now reboot the electronics by pressing down on the Stop button for 1 to 5 seconds. Note: A few models require you press down on the Start button instead. And even fewer require you press down on the Select button instead.

Often the + and - Delay Timer buttons are pressed by mistake, delaying Start by up to 12 hours. If you suspect this handy feature has been engaged accidentally, you'll need to reboot the breadmaker's electronics. See reboot directions above.

Note: All breadmakers use a belt and pulley system. If your breadmaker powers-up but the mixer won't turn during the kneading cycles, your timing belt is probably broken. You'll need to disassemble the breadmaker to visually confirm. The belt and pulley assemblies are located at the bottom of your breadmaker.
