My Frigidaire electric range/oven started making mechanical clicking or ticking sounds all of a sudden and a "locked" light keeps flashing weakly and the going out. When I open the oven door the noise and flashing stops. What do you think is causing this? When I opened the oven door and pressed the switch with my hand, the oven door latch apparently locked with the door open and now I can't get the oven door all the way closed. But I don't see any button on the oven to control locking. If someone can tell me where to look for the model/serial number I can post that as well. The only sticker I can see shows this Frigidaire oven range was purchased in 1995 from Montgomery Ward.

I'd already had the main power off to get rid of the constant ticking noise. After turning power pack on the door was still locked open. There is no Clear or Off button that I can see. Only a Cancel button which I think is for turning off the oven heat. Holding that didn't change anything since the heat wasn't on.

I pressed the door switch again and that unlocked the lock so I could at least close the door, but the ticking and locked light going off and on continues.

I think it might help to find the model number, but again I don't know where to look.

I had already switched off power to the electric range for more than 48 hours before I came to Fixya for help and it didn't fix the issue.

More importantly, this is rapidly getting over my head. I'm not sure how to test "the switches on the lock assembly...with an ohms meter" or how to replace them let alone how to replace the "control board".

I'm hoping someone can provide just a little more guidance and not assume that I already know how to locate and replace these components. Once I have the correct reference materials, such as a diagram of the appliance, I can do fairly well. I have already taken apart and repaired a washer and dryer.

Anyway, I will search all the suggested places for a model number and post back here. Obviously we can't find a diagram for this electric range without the model number.

OK, I found the model # under the stove top (one of the places JEDEMEYER1 suggested):

    Frigidaire model: FEF352BAWB
    Serial number: VF44410859

My apologies to the last expert. I guess there wasn't much more he could tell me without the model number. However, this is starting to sound like something that could be over my head without more guidance on how to proceed.

Take your time. I have a new question: Why would an electric range/oven need an ignitor? It sounds like something one would find in a gas stove. No need to respond until after you finish your research...

Looks like fixya.com failed to save my last reply. It's taking significantly longer to get any specific guidance on this issue. With my washing machine I received all the information I needed within a few hours. However, I understand that ovens may be more difficult to fix.

Do you need more time to research? Should we try to pass this to another expert who may know more about ovens?

Well, it's been days since I've heard anything from the last expert. I'm still waiting for guidance on how to repair my electric range. If no one knows how to deal with this, let me know and I'll request a refund. No hard feelings.

The clicking sound is the control relays that are cyclingthe broil and bake elements off and on to maintain the oven temperatureaccurately. In thatcase as the lock lights flashing and making clicking sound, that means thecontrol relay is faulty and creating this problem, which needs servicing and replacedif needed. Hope this will help you. Good Luck.

Hello there, presently you have stated 2 problems which apparently are quite tricky. The mechanical clicking noise is coming from the electric ignitor which you might want to change as the continuous mechanical clicking is a sign of the ignitor malfunctioning and this could lead to a disastrous fire if not fixed soon. To stop the sound unplug the unit when not in use the noise stops when you open the door because the ignitor power source is cut of when the door is opened and therefore does not function then.
Problem 2: the door latch which got locked can simply be unlocked by using the same procedure for opening the door if it were locked properly. Only mostly the latch is such that the door is supposed to make an impact with a part to release the latch completely to open it well normally try locating the impact point and use a similar piece of iron as the part of the door which makes the impact to replicate the impact while pressing the open button.
Hope this solution has been helpful?
Thank you for visiting FixYa.

Hello there, thanks for the feedback. As I said earlier the clicking sound is from the ignitor. Willl check the model to get an idea what the door lock mechanism is like.

Hi mike_glenn,

Ok, do the following:

1) Press and hold the "Clear/Off" button on the oven until you hear a beep and the word "OFF" disappears from the display. The word "Lock" will remain in the display until the door lock is disengaged, which could take up to 10 to 15 seconds.

-or-

2) Find the main circuit breaker for your oven. Turn it off for fifteen minutes, then flip it back on. This should allow the door latch to open.

I hope this helps

Kind Regards

    Hi Again,

The clicking noise is most likely the relay in the control board attempting to activate the door lock. I'd suggest powering the oven down via the circuit board for 12 hours in order to reset the memory.

If this does not clear the problem upon power up then the switches on
the lock assembly will need to be tested with an ohms meter and the
defective switch replaced. However, if the switches are tested good then the
    control board replaced.

The Model number can be found on numerous places, common places are: under the Cook top, In the Warmer drawer left or right chassis, or on the back or under the fuse lid.

    Kind Regards

    JEDEMEYER1

How do I stop the door lock from flashing on my self cleaning oven

Hello Brian Pelletier, thanks for your inquiry!

I understand that you are having issues with your door not locking upon using the self-clean feature. It sounds like a possible issue with your EOC (Electronic Oven Control) or dock latch assembly. I would suggest unplugging your range if possible or flipping you breaker for ten minutes to perform reset. If the light continues to flash you may want to seek assistance from a professional for proper diagnosis and repair. -Matt

Code dr oven door won't open sounds like it keep turning

You probably need a door lock mechanism. If you remove the rear panel and locate the lock mechanism (about middle of back) and HELP the gear turn a little it may finish it's unlock cycle. If not just keep turning the gear till the door unlocks.

maximum oven door unlock time exceeded. Check wiring between eoc & door lock micro switch. more likely you need to replace the EOC

The oven does not work and the word"locked" appears on the display. The oven is not locked and when I try to start it it makes a clicking grinding sound

the lock mechanism is acting up. if they fail they can give the board a door locked indication through one of the microswitches but not be locked. you can find the assembly under the cooktop and at the back of the unit with a rod going up to the actual latch you may be able to touble shoot it from the back without taking the top off

Frigidaire electric stove keeps beeping

IF IT HAS A MECHANICAL CLOCK, THE START AND STOP TIMES NEED TO BE SET, THE OVEN CONTROL SET TO CLEAN, AND THE SELECTOR SWITCH SET TO CLEAN.
TO CLEAN NOW SET START TIME TO THE TIME ON THE CLOCK AND THE STOP TIME TO 3 HOURS LATER.
LOCK THE DOOR. IT SHOULD START AND THE CLEAN LIGHT SHOULD ILLUMINATE, OR OVEN ON LAMP SHOULD LIGHT.
IF IT STILL DOESN'T WORK, THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE CLOCK OR THE CONTROLS OR THE LOCK ASSEMBLY.
A WIRING DIAGRAM WOULD BE BEST FOR DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM.

Frigidaire---oven door locks.

On my Frigidaire electric range with flat screen front controls, when the "Clean" control was accidentally pushed and the door locked, I could not unlock the door by cutting power, by running the clean mode for 30 seconds then pushing "Clear", or by hitting any button. What opened the door was holding down the "Clear" button for 30 seconds until the range started beeping and code "F11" read on the led. This worked. Good luck with yours.
