Can't take picture!!

During my job I took picutures and closed the window and after 1 minutes later, I try to open the window again, the lens doesn't come off and I can't take picuture. I used this camera for about 3 years, there's no problems before. I checked batteries but it was fine. I checked quick view, it's fine and I can see whole details that I took. Only and main problem is I cannot take picuture. I tried everything but they won't work. What should I do? I bought this camera in Japan and right now lives in New Zealand. Do I have to send it to Japan to be fixed or it's still possible to be fixed in here?

One day i took it out of my pocket and it worked fine then later that day i took it out of my pocket and it said Turn the power off and on again and the lens opened then i turned it off and the lens stayed...

Look at my post for a very similar problem. I tried all the steps, pushed and pulled on the telescopic lens thing. Got to the step of hitting it against my palm while turned off, and when I powered it up it worked again.

The lens on my L730 digital camera does not open.

Hi, I had exact the same problem with mine Samsung L730. I opened it and took the 2 flatcables from the circuit board (to the lens-unit) out of there connectors. After I put them back in again, the camera worked. I geuss it was a bad electric connection of the lens-unit. Maybe this will solve your problem. If the camera is older than 1 year and has no warrenty, just try this. Good luck.

Not turning on and has strange smell

Powershot A640 Could Not Be Powered On, Burnt Smell

My Powershot A640 died during a picture shot, lens remaining open. I thought it may be due to the dead batteries. But after putting new batteries and pushing the on/off button, the on/off indicator blinked once then shut off by itself. After a while, a strange smell came from camera batteries area, and I could feel warm there too. Immediately I took out all the batteries from camera.

When checking the posts here the other day, I tried one solution and got the lens back to close: first took out the memory card from camera, then put the new batteries in; push the on/off button with no memory card. I found the lens retracted a little before camera shut off by itself. I pushed on/off button three times to get the lens fully close. However, the burnt smell came out again. I immediately took out the batteries.
Did I get a short circuit inside? Is there any ways to fix it?

My Panasonic DMC-TZ3 lost the ability to open the automatic lens cover and therefore no pictures can be taken. I took one picture and a few minutes later I wanted to take another and realized the problem....

Sometimes if you strike the camera, while powered, and against the palm of your other hand, it will open, and may operate correctly for sometime before maybe having to do it again.

This is a very common design problem with the TZ3. I would be sure to get it to a panasonic repair shop before warranty runs out. If it has run out, I would preasure panasonic to fix THEIR design problem for free. Especially if it began to occur during your warranty.

Samsung Digimax V4 Power Consumption

I had similar symptoms as well until it finally died: 1) First started eating batteries like crazy, especially standard AA and rechargeables. The CRV3 seemed to work a bit longer. 2) One day out of nowhere the autofocus stopped working. I replaced the batteries and it worked again for 10 shots. Then the autofocus stopped working and battery died (with the lens stuck open). Pressing power, the LCD backlight flashes on, the LED in the view finder blinks, and the lens motor makes noise. Then nothing just stuck open. 3) Again new batteries and was able to close lens, take a few pictures and dead again with lens stuck open - same problem in 2. 4) Replaced the batteries a couple times and was able to get a shot or two off, and now its complete stuck open, even with brand new batteries - with same problem in 2 it just won't turn on. I finally sent it to Samsung the week of Christmas. I called Friday 1/7/05 to check and had to leave a voicemail. They called back Monday 1/10/05 to let me know they recieved it and that I should call back Thursday to check its status.
