Re: Problem with Sony DAV C770 DVD player
Theres a mechanical system inside this unit that most of it is made out of nylon or plastic gears and levers so im thinking that somehow the unit broke one of the gears or cams and cant complete its cycle or somethings inside the unit like a paper cd label or something liker that But my moneys on a broken loading mechaism and the onlty way to fix that is to get a complete mechanical service manual and start from sratch with the alighnments and then you will see when one isent in the right spot. This is not an easy repair unless you do these makes and models all the time as there are so many alighnments and gears that it seems how did this ever work>?? good luck PS send this unit to someone who knows!!

Hi, Yes, tis unit has 2 video inputs at rear so you can connect any other dvd player sound (analog or digital) to get 5.1 channel surround sound from DAV-C770 speakers. Click Sony Support to download user manual copy of DAV-C770 that has more details about connection setup. Hope this info will help you. Thanks.
This is a repairable assembly. It needs realigment. I have realigned many of these units with no problem as long as theres no broken plastic parts. What ever you do dont force anything.Yes there is a video input jack that can be used for hookup
Any DVD? Check your cabling, the video cable can be damaged or it is very close to a magnetic field such as Hallogen light fixture. Another troubleshooting tests are, change the input on your TV (from input 1 to 2) or test the signal on another TV to display the image. Good luck. Ronni
mY DAV-C770 has the exact same problem ...when watching a movie it will intermittently pause or freeze ...then continue. It will do this 20 or 30 times throughout a movie.
I asked a tech at Sony for help and he told me the laser reader is out of alignment.
The minimum amount to have the dvd player sent out and repaired is $200.00, and thats if it does not require any parts.
with a new laser reader it will be about $400.00. Almost the same price as a new dream system. Not worth fixing. I used to think really highly of Sony - until now.
