Garmin quest won't swith on.

I recently bought a motorcycle mount for the quest. I have a BMW R1150gs. I bought the auxillary plug and connected it to the lead from the mount. I tested the quest and it was working fine. I plugged the whole thing into the bike and put the quest in the cradle. It won't switch on. I removed it from the cradle and it won't work at all now. In frustration I bought another quest(second hand) that worked fine. I fitted fuses in the power line and double checked all power leads and contacts. I then put it all back on the bike and put the new GPS in it. Guess what!! No go!! I will not work at all either. I am now 2 quests down and fed up!! Can you advise on how to get these quests to wrk again?

The Quest charges on about 5 volts you have to plug the cigarette adapter into a 12 volt souce, the adapter then converts it to 5 volts. If you splice 12 volts directly into the mount the quest will not work because you burn up the circuits or the battery.
