Has the camera been dropped latley? have you taken it to the beech? these units have a telescopic lens mechanism and they use gears and motors to extend the lenses. If any debris gets in there it can jam up the gears. If it has bee dropped or bumped the mechnisim can bind and damage the gears or the moving parts that run this. Its very common and really hard to avoid. Some are very fragile. If the lenses are not extending when you try and power it on it may need serviced. There is a guy on e-bay who does some good cheap repairs named "Darntoothysam" he is a master sony repair guy who has been doing it a few years. Maybe contact him see what he thinks.

Display not showing while taking photo

Press the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This button turns the LCD screen on and off to save battery power. You would then use the "peep hole" (optical display finder) in its place.

My lcd display won't show the camera image while taking pics but it will show the menu and previously taken photos by pressing the play button. What could be wrong?

Turn the camera on, and press the DISP button on the back of the camera. This turns the LCD screen on and off. The idea of this button is to save battery power (you would then use the peep hole optical viewfinder in its place).

After an update for my PS3 my screen went black and my console won't come on. The green light comes on but there is no picture on the screen.

switch power back off, teun it on, hold power touch on the front down--> PS3 will turn on, keep holding until it turns off. when it turns off, take of your finger. hold down your finger again on the power touch, green light will blink, keep holding, you will hear one peep, then two peeps (when you hear the two peeps take off you finger); a menu will show up, chose restore factory default setting then ok, PS3 will restart, hopefully that will fix it

Hi there, my Samsung WB500 camera can not get it's lens closed. It stands open all the time and is doing nothing. When I turn the power on, it 3 times makes a hard noise 'peep peep peep', no display and...

This is a common problem with cameras. They can get bumped when the lens is out, and that can jam the gear assembly, or break a gear. I could run down all the things you can try to free it up, but there is a better web page that deals with issues like this. The page deals with error messages for the lens, but the beeping you hear is an error message, also. Follow their suggestions to try to free the lens up- maybe you'll get lucky. They say that, in about 50% of the cases, it can be fixed by trying their suggestions. Here's the site:

If nothing works, make sure you get an estimate before getting the camera repaired. Sometimes the cost of repair justifies going ahead and purchasing a new camera, on sale, and is often less expensive than having it repaired. Good luck! Hope you get it working again!

Panasonic NN-H503B. Now some years old. Switched it on at the plug this morning and it did the following: constant peep, peep, peep, accompanied by the display flashing 9/Beef 10/Pork, 9/Beef 10/Pork...

It sounds like you have a shorted pad ("defrost", maybe?) on the keypad.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

If you would like to have us do this repair for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your model number) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Dark screen on my video-camera Canon MV700i

I have the same problem, it appears that this camera is one of many cameras that have problems with the CCD (image sensor) have a look at this site for more info www.imaging-resource.com/badccds.html

I hadn't used mine for about 9 months, when I went to use it the screen was black with a bit of flicker. Canon are still fixing them if you're from the UK have a peep here - https://self-service.canon-europe.com/uk/pages/

Hope that helps
